Here is an interesting article about Alexandra's brother.  It also reveals her real name.  Look under "personal life".  Alexandra's not her first name, and Warsh IS her last name.

We need proof of that. Wikipedia is true 60% of the time. As of right now, I do not believe that. She can't just be working at TWC with another name. That's impossible.

It's plausible, but I hear a resounding:

I never thought that Alexandra wasn't her real name. Interesting…

I can see a resemblance between them. So Kate Warsh is the real name of Alexandra Steele.

I know folks in the media with stage names. Its not uncommon. For a women in the national spotlight I can understand  it for safety reasons as well.

Yup it's very common, especially among women. A few years ago, a longtime reporter for WPXI, Yolanda Hawkins, departed the station and didn't mention where she was going. Then, a few months later, I was out west, and was watching KCBS, and lone and behold, Yolanda Hawkins was there, with a different name, of Lonni Rivera. I emailed her out of curiosity, and she said the name change was prompted by a few people here in Pittsburgh looking her up and trying to find her (creeps), and see as how LA is a bigger area, there was a greater chance of that happening more often. It's for pure safety.

For those of you familiar with CNET, Natali Morris, formerly Natali del Conte hosts a daily tech show called Loaded. She just recently wrote about how having two names would be difficult in her opinion. http://natalidelconte.squarespace.com/blog/2010/11/14/the-journalist-formerly-known-as-del-conte.html

It's not that hard to believe really. It happens in the industry. Locally one of our OCMs goes by a different name on air. In his case its because the name is spelled really weird.

It makes me laugh that this is "shocking" and "unbelievable."  As Martin said, it is totally common.  Diane Sawyer goes by her middle name.  Not sure what her first one is.  It's a good idea, I think.

DEAR TWC,
I WOULD LIKE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING OCMs TO BE BACK ON TWC....BILL KENEELY, ALEXANDRA STEELE, BETTY DAVIS, AND ALL OF THE OTHER GREAT OCMs THAT YOU HAVE "LET GO" AND REPLACED WITH THESE NEW OCMs THAT HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH TWC. COPY AND PASTE THIS IF YOU AGREE!

 The weather channel has no self discipline. :hammer: WHY DO THEY ALWAYS LET GO OF THE BEST OCMS! When i was younger (and still now) Betty Davis was my favorite. :cry3: TWC SHOULD GET A  :censored: GRIP

It's a very different network.  I started regularly watching The Weather Channel in 1988, and it more or less maintained its continuity through the early 2000s.  Since then, though, changes have been taking place at a dizzying pace, and many of these changes have been utterly incomprehensible.

I truly miss the network as it once was.
