Weather Warning Question
« on: September 19, 2010, 08:31:50 AM »
Hi,

I was just curious how the watch/warning/advisory modes work. I notice that the most warnings are in red but not all. Same for watches. Come to think of it the only watch i've seen in yellow is a t'storm watch.  Does anybody know how these colors are assigned?

In March 2009 there was a flood warning issued for my area but it showed up with a orange scroll.

I think you mean Flash Flood Warning, Flood Warning comes up on the orange scroll. (with a warning tone)

IMO, all warnings need to have the Red LDL for consistency.

Also (although I saw it on a few YouTube videos), I didn't think a "watch" scroll was ever used because the Weather Bulletin on the IS took care of that.

I've seen plenty of watch scrolls.

Watch scrolls show for 10 minutes and then the watch appears on the bulletin.

Sorry to bump but are certain warnings/watches not shown? Because last week some were issued for my area but I noticed that they did not show up on my IS.

Some of the lower-priority watches/warnings/advisories like Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches are not shown. What kind of warning was issued for your area, but not shown?

I think it was a freeze warning.

A freeze warning is dangerous for farmers/crops and should show up on a scroll on your IntelliStar. It always has for me.

BTW, a freeze warning shows up in orange on a 10 minute IntelliStar scroll.

You probably just missed it. I miss the ones here all the time when we have watches
