David Helping? Wow, that's an odd selection for them to make. And "Celestial Soda Pop!?" Wow!! That hasn't been on TWC in over 20 years! :o

I was just about to post it. Here's the Excel file for it.

Reminds me of the July '05 and September '07 playlists. Too many rock songs and not enough jazz tunes. A lot of these are probably WMG songs too. <_<

I'm not sure what to think of this one yet.

The Clash song was played in July 2005, wasn't it? I'm interested to hear what that one is, as I don't remember it.

Looks like Gooding (whoever that is) dominates the playlist.

I only recognize a couple of them, and once again, only one song from my wanted list is in all three lists, but it is one I have really wanted to hear... "Guyute" by Phish  :thrilled:

I am sad "Breathe In" is STILL not showing up  <_< :(

This playlist is good, but I agree, too many rock music on it. Anyways, it's great to hear Why I Sing The Blues by BB King, Smilies by Present Tense and Advanced Funk by Maceo Parker again.

Knowing TWC, I highly doubt that unless it is once again Vocal Nite 2007 (my term for it), that they would put a vocal song on the LFs. I would imagine they will somehow get an instrumental version, like they always do.

I don't really think that they have anywhere near enough Ryan Farish songs. I would put in 2-3 more. I don't know the songs they are including very well, so this is a different playlist.   :o

Now, "Why I Sing The Blues" by BB King was on the September 2007 Primetime Playlist right? If that is the case, I really like that song. I think it should be on the primetime again as opposed to the daytime, but I am happy to hear it

What an odd, awkward list. I'm so happy to see Crimea II back!! I KNEW Jackiem Joyner's "Im Waiting For you" was going to air!!! I bought that song on itunes last week.

Nope, it's was on the July/August 2007 Daytime/Primetime playlist. The Thrill is Gone was on the Sept/Oct 2007 Primetime playlist.

Thrill Was Gone was also used in July 2005, as was "Time is Tight" by the Clash. I remember hearing "Time is Tight" during the primetime hours on my IntelliStar.

This playlist is not as good as I see now. Very few jazz tunes and most were previously used on TWC. And what happened to Chris Geith's music?
Title: Re: Official June 2009 Playlist!

They haven't played Scott Ward in awhile either. I hope the music they're playing this month isn't staying for awhile. <_< Viewers do like smooth jazz on their LOT8's, not rock, which was why TWC released those CD's.

He needed to take a break, just like they should do with Ryan Farish.

I am strongly thinking about this. This rock shit does NOT belong to TWC. We need smooth jazz back. I don't mind this kind of music on TWC once in a while but TWC's image and symbol is not about Rock/Chill it's about jazz. This is going to be a terrible pattern I can tell. :(

Agreed. We need to do something about this. Now I know some of you are like..  with us LF music fans complaining about what's happening, but it's ridiculous how NBC never knows when to stop.. This might drain the ratings. I know change is good, but the original music is legendary to a lot of viewers.. and NBC is completely taking that away..

I know this won't happen anytime soon, but is TWC capable of buying itself out of NBC to become an independent channel?

Just out of curiosity, how did you and Mike find out the June playlist in advance? If it's a secret source or something then don't tell me. I couldn't find it under the music tab on weather.com.

Best chance is to email her at least 1-3 days in advance to get a better response

The only list im going to like is the Overnight list,

At least - the rock and then add R&B instrumentals in the rock music's place, Then maybe just maybe i will like the music on TWC again, but not until then.

First of all: Melodramatic.

Second, they took off Chris Geith and Ryan Farish because all of their songs sound the same.

My Rating for this playlist: 5/10. Yet another awful June playlist.

I havent had TWC since March 23 but have been keeping tabs on here... seems like there are quite a few vocal tracks on this playlist... or at least a lot of vocal CD's listed. I suspect NBC is just trying to appeal to a certain demographic (young women and/or the female audience at large), which most U.S. corporations do, and switch the TWC LF genre from Jazz to Primarily Rock or Techno might just be one of those moves in that "marketing" ploy. It doesnt make sense (at least at first glance) b/c it is weather related, but then again, I could be wrong

I noticed today that they added June 2009 on the list in the music section on their website, but it hasn't been posted yet, it bring up an error. Once it there and it's exactly the same as the onein this thread, we know they don't give a CRAP about making these drastic changes, but if it's been modified, they might be listening to what the public is saying on FB.

I've only heard a couple of songs from the new playlist, but I like what I'm hearing so far.

However, I still go by the principle that Jazz = TWC.
Same here! Wow, "Why I Sing The Blues" by BB King at 6:48 PM EDT!  I remember this song now that I listen to it, and I love it!  :thrilled:

I don't mind having mostly rock on the LOT8s this month, kinda brings a summer mood to me actually. But I would rather have smooth jazz and rock equally!

Well, did Guyute play last night? I am not sure if it is a remixed version or not that is playing this month, and I can't tell if it played last night.

That means it must be a remixed version or different cut. When did it play?

Nope, it's the same version they've always played. I'm pretty sure its the same cut, too.

Well, I must have missed it. I looked over my recording from last night and I could not find it. It doesn't matter too much, I have a much better chance of hearing it tonight, as there is no long-form programming.

TWC must've mixed up the playlist. I'm hearing an overnight song on daytime and a song not listed in the daytime list (I sampled them) aired earlier at 6:48am. it had a jeanne ricks-ish guitar and sax. I don't remember any other sax songs besides Present Tense and Maceo in the list. Either way, it's a good song.

Wow, they're playing Guyute? I remember hearing that back in 2004. I was watching TWC with my grandparents all day when Hurricane Charley made landfall and that song was the one I heard the most that day.

Thank you for your congratulations Alex.  Since NBC purchased the Weather Channel they've decided to change the music format, so my music's not as readily acceptable.  They've decided to include more 'Rock' selections and just in general to make the music selections more 'exciting'.  They want to move away from 'Smooth Jazz' which is kinda silly since it has historically always worked very well for the station - but that's NBC.

All the best,

It's from the user weatherfanaticHD2008. It seems to me like he has the correct date, since the XL v2 did exist in most locations that now hav Intellistar at that time. Why don't you think the date is correct?  :dunno:

It certianly is possible. I know I feel as though "Still Life" by Ryan Farish also sounds like "No Air" by Jordan Sparks, so there is an interesting similarity there. What parts of each song sound like each other?

Hi,

I hope you don't have a ton of comments from me. I apologize if they are in queue. They weren't posting for some reason. I just wanted to say "Thank You" for posting a forecast with my song. I greatly appreciate the support. I feel honored that they've chosen my track for even the overnight hour. They do listen there and if you write them they'll move it up. I'm actually donating money from the sale of this track to The NC Coastal Federation. |/_ - Peace TF
