7:28am Taylor Swift "The Best Day"

I'm starting to get worried that the much-loved Christmas playlist is becoming (or has become) obsolete with all of these music changes.

It's only a matter of time before The Weather Channel is put up on a higher cable service tier.

I'm home for the weekend, and thus this is the first time I've watched TWC since leaving for college at the beginning of last month. I recorded the overnight playlist and heard Chasing the Wind by Matthew Shuman, My Name is Lincoln by Steve Jablonsky, Armory by Daft Punk, an instrumental piano song (sounds like Curtis Macdonald) and an instrumental guitar song. The other 4 songs I heard were vocal. Not sure if there is a 10th song.

This song is probably my favorite I've heard so far. It sounds like a remix of a Paul Hardcastle song.

This. The way TWC has regressed the last few years is making this look almost inevitable. People can just access the weather on their phones anyway. The need for a nationwide weather channel doesn't have the significance it had just 10 years ago.

Also, I do think there will be a Christmas playlist, but I can assure you it will be vocal.

I am not counting on it. In fact, it would really surprise me if any of the Vince Guaraldi songs are on there. At this point, expect mostly vocal pop renditions. I think that the instrumentals will mostly come from TSO and maybe John Williams.

I submitted a track this month. First time in awhile. If you hear something that sounds like me, it might be! Working on new stuff. That to all of you guys keeping up on this. I hope they continue to accept instrumentals and independent music. :-)

Good to hear. :) I believe the vast majority in this community agree with the instrumental preference. Also wanted to say that the "Yet Unknown Weeping Guitar Mix" is one of my favorites.

Maybe I'm missing the songs when they play, but I'm not hearing as many tacky songs that have a word about the weather in it this month. I just thought that was a little too cute.

Well thanks for the support! Yet Unknown (Weeping Guitar Mix) is one of my favorite track remixes as well. Eddie and I had a ton of fun writing that one. I do like to go with themes and songs and since I'm a weather buff/background I tend to write with that in mind but I like to be more cryptic

I love Yet Unknown myself. One of my favorites from the August/September 2010 playlist. Let us know if TWC decides to play your music. AFAIK, they're still playing instrumentals and independent artists so maybe you'll make it considering your music was used before. BTW, what is this song and is it possible if we can hear it? Like a temporary stream?

TWC is in storm mode for everything except the music.
I'm guessing they might switch to an instrumental playlist this weekend.

Yes. I figure they have their hands full and the music is the least of their worries right now. I even noticed a live feed of TWC now on Weather Underground now that TWC bought them!

The track is a another great remix renamed "Florida Sun (Sieve Ochre's Sunset Mix)". Some incredible piano and feel in this one. I'll try to put a sample on soundcloud if I get some time. Meanwhile stay safe if y'all are on the East Coast!

Well, everyone loves the Vince Guaraldi songs, so their absence would surprise me more than anything else. Of course, with the current state of TWC, I avoid being surprised at anything they do, but that's how I see it. Unless something changes, vocal pop renditions will likely dominate the list, but I also expect the Charlie Brown songs to remain (plus TSO and John Williams). Of course, we'll have to wait and see what actually happens, and we're still probably over a month away from hearing the Christmas playlist.

I also heard "Weather Radio" numerous times over the past few days. That might be my favorite song on the playlist.

TWC should start playing some of Chet Atkin's and Bob Rafkin's songs, those would really fit with they type of instrumental music they're plaing now.
