What hotel/location did you find this at? I need to know if I do end up going up there.

I found it at the Grand Hotel.
Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

Ah okay, that is what I had figured. Can you look to see if you can unhook the cable from the TV or wall at all?

In my room. The cable is accessable at the TV so yes it can be unplugged from the back of the TV.

Nice find!

Wow, I can tell how old that crawl is. "Because Viewers live by it..." is on that ad crawl, so it must of been added during the LBI era.

Thanks. And Oh no. I just saw some minor degradation on the extended forecast product (Top portion of the three boxes turned pink)

The wiki article needs to be updated to Include the STAR ID and a note saying that it has some slight degradation on the background gradient and extended forecast product at times.

Maybe some of us don't want to or just don't have ClearQAM capabilities, OK? :whistling:

This maybe this is a meant for Hotels cable system (aka a lot of analog and no digital at all) and they are useing a lot older stuff in the head end and no one wants to pay for TWC ad space.

A cable system that is setup for a place that has a lot of analog tv and cost of putting a box on each one is high. So they just have a lot of analog stuff while in other areas they are moving analog to digital and makeing you get a box on each tv. Like the old weather star with the old scroll ad may point to a old cable system that likely will say as is as the cost to go to digital and then setup a to in hotel digital to analog system will be high and likely a waste. also unlike others areas where hotels and a full city of people are on the same system.

Hotels in other citys may be in for a big mess when analog turns off in there area. In Las Vegas some hotels have a digital system that the cable co developed with the hotels. Mackinac Island, Michigan is likely to small for that. and very few people are there year round as well.
