Just heard a new song at 5:08 PM EDT! Sorry, HD box acted up... so I haven't been able to get a clip :pinch:
-
new @ 5:18!
-
Looks like the May playlist is sure starting early... :thrilled:
-
More rock crap but it seems that it sounds kinda like Cliffs of Dover and Survive.
-
@ 5:28
Let it Rain by Ryan Farish!!!!!!! :D
-
@ 5:28
Let it Rain by Ryan Farish!!!!!!! :D
 TWC played "Let it Rain" by Eric Clapton in 2002 and 2007.
-
I caught a recording of that song, is it supposed to be his version of "Let It Rain"?
-
@ 5:38
"Songbird" by Ryan Farish!!!!!
Wow... two of his "Bloom" songs are on this playlist! That's awesome!
-
Green Onions by Booker T and MGs at :48
-
My favorite song. I heard it in May 2005, and July 20, 2009 premiere episode of Wake Up with Al.
-

It played September 2009 as well
-
yeah i just heard it and was going to post when you posted :)
-
@:59 - Love Clears the Way by Gooding from July 09
-
Love Clears The Way by Gooding at :58 there. Sounds like it's a minute earlier in.
-
:08- Herbie Hancock- Rockit
-
:08- Herbie Hancock- Rockit
epic!
-
:08- Herbie Hancock- Rockit
epic!
woo!
/me does the robot dance.
I am really liking this playlist... idk about you guys.
-
All these songs have been aired already except Ryan's new songs...not liking this playlist at all so far.
-
primetime = fail

Meh, I have mixed feelings about it. :itsok:
Rockit & Green Onions kinda ruin the Primetime, they shouldn't be there.
-
Yet another shitty primetime list...although I do like Let it Rain and Songbird by Ryan Farish
-
If only they added either "Freedom Song", "Coloring Silence" or "Anthem Of Hope", I'd be a super duper happy storm. "Let it Rain" is also one of my favorites, "Songbird", however, is okay.
-
What is going on here I wonder?
Would they make up their minds on what they want to play. I was saying the same exact thing when I listened to LOT8's last night. I don't like this one bit.
-
WTF ? at this song right now
-
Seems like TWC picked rock at the right time (4/20)
-
WTF, this playlist is C-R-A-P.
-
now now you didn't listen to the (hopefully) better daytime jazz and overnights :D
-
This playlist sounds a lot like July 2009, but good playlist though.
-

I am sure "Coloring Silence" will air next playlist (June/July-ish?)
-

they could be in the morning list. Anthem of Hope and Freedom Song sound more like morning songs to me
-
This playlist sounds a lot like July 2009, but good playlist though.
When I first herd it, I thought it was the July 2009 playlist being re-used. lol
-
Miles Davis- Freddie Freeloader :48
-
 Never cared for his work
-
 Never cared for his work
I don't either, although he made a very good version of the song "Human Nature" by M.J that I liked.
EDIT: Here's "Let It Rain" by Ryan Farish recorded ironically during a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.
IntelliStar - April 20, 2010 6:28pm (Ryan Farish - Let It Rain) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHiDEt_Z9SI#)
-
WTF, The Main Home Alone Theme?
-
:08- John Williams- Hedwig's Theme (very Halloweenish  )
-
Terrible primetime list. <_< I don't get it, what is it with TWC reairing recent songs?
-
So far my only pick on this list is "Let it Rain" by Ryan Farish.
-
OMG, Shine On You Crazy Diamond is back again!
-
Yeah, I just heard Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Definite TWC Classic. I had a feeling that Rockit would re-air. Haven't heard Freddie Freeloader since 2000 or 2001. But so far, the primetime has too many repeats from past playlists. It seems there are a heckuva lot of July repeats.
-
Way too many repeats as usual. So far there are only 4 new songs ...the one at 6:38 , Hedwig's Theme by John Williams, Let it Rain and Songbird by Ryan Farish.
So far for Primetime I got this:
Title- Artist- CD
Shine on You Crazy Diamond- Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here
Green Onions- Booker T and the MGs- Best of Booker T and the MGs
Rockit- Herbie Hancock- Best of Herbie Hanock
Love Clears the Way- Gooding- To Kiss to Kill
Freddie Freeloader- Miles Davis- Kind of Blue
Songbird- Ryan Farish- Bloom
Let it Rain- Ryan Farish- Bloom
Hedwig's Theme- John Williams- John Williams: 40 Years of Film Music
unidentified (possible Bryan Steele) song
-
Miles Davis isn't me. And please, enough with John Williams and his terrible theme music!
-
Miles Davis isn't me. And please, enough with John Williams and his terrible theme music!
Agreed
-
So far, the only one that I'm happy to hear again is SOYCD
/me is thinking of a Sept 07/Jul 09/Apr 10 triple take of this song.
-

Not if I get to it first :P
But too bad the only recording I have of it from 2007 is not my recording :whistling: :P
-
So you can't do a triple take, only a double take. And I mentioned the idea first. sorry :P
-
So you can't do a triple take, only a double take. And I mentioned the idea first. sorry :P
I don't understand the point in double takes the way you guys do them. The idea invented by Chazz was for having the same LF from two different sources in one video, IIRC.
-

I agree. Triple/Double takes don't make any sense IMO. Plus you guys are basically ripping off of Chazz's idea of the double take for the same reason Zach explained above.
-
I have ensured to give Chazz credit for the idea in my previous double take videos.
-
Miles Davis isn't me.
Well, everyone has their own taste of music. As for me, I like "Freddie Freeloader" by Miles Davis, a Timeless Classic. :shades:
Although I gotta ask the staff at TWC: Why don't they pick the ones we want that we posted on the "Create Your Own Playlist" topic? Although they picked a few, but STILL!!
-
:08- John Williams- Hedwig's Theme (very Halloweenish  )
Looks like I wasn't the only one hearing things at 10:39PM CT.
-
Miles Davis isn't me. And please, enough with John Williams and his terrible theme music!
Yeah, I don't get why TWC loves John Williams so much. His songs do not fit on the Local on the 8s. I think the only somewhat appropriate song they had from him was the Home Alone theme, since it was around the holidays.
-
Anyone hear any good songs on the overnight playlist?
-
Anyone hear any good songs on the overnight playlist?
They actually seemed to have forgotten to switch the list over for the overnite. Still heard March music <_<
EDIT: Whoa, "Toss The Feathers" is on the morning list :o

Just heard Boney James' Nothin But Love at 11:28 AM ET. Seems a lot of songs are reairing. :dunno:

James Brown, as in the Godfather of Soul James Brown?
-
Yay for "Magnificent"!!!!
-
According to TWC " We started playing the Prime Time tracks last night,https://twctodayforums.com/forums/Smileys/1/fear.gif and will continue switching over to the new songs today. "
Guess thats why things were a bit strange yesterday
-
James Brown, as in the Godfather of Soul James Brown?
No, I submitted that album to TWC along with a few others and his Endless Summer Breeze album fortunately received airplay. :D It looks like an okay list so far too many reuses
-
Eventhough I haven't heard anything besides the primetime, I can tell the only part of this playlist I'm gonna like is Daytime & Overnight the rest of it looks to be crap. I'm glad to see "The Gift" by 3rd Force playing this month I lost my recording of that when it played back in 2007.

The only primetime songs I like is the Smashing Pumpkins song and Let it Rain. Overnight looks jazzy!
-
Why on the Morning list?? :cry3:
Because daytime is now dedicated to smooth jazz music.
-
:58 was Mahogany by lao Tizer from the February 2009 overnight playlist. Good song but it doesn't belong on daytime
-
:58 was Mahogany by lao Tizer from the February 2009 overnight playlist. Good song but it doesn't belong on daytime
Yeah, it's very slow paced imo, but then again it's plenty of songs that don't fit where they are.
-
The Daytime and Overnight are the best by far. The Primetime and Morning lists are pretty uneven. Overall, this playlist is good, but not as good as the March/April list. :itsok: There are so many reuses. I had a feeling that Rockit would come back on. The Harry Potter theme is the worst song on TWC by far. I don't get the obsession with John Williams by TWC over the past few months. :dunno:

The Gift also played November 2000. That's when I first heard it. Reptile also played December 2005. At least TWC is bringing back some nostalgic songs, such as those two, and Shine on You Crazy Diamond.

SOYCD has played a lot in the past years: Apr/May 2010, July/August 09, Sept/Oct 07, August 03 and Aug? 01
-
I don't mind if there are several classics brought back on occasion, but I would like to hear more new songs in each playlist. This current one sounds okay from what I've been able to tell so far, but there are quite a few repeats.
-
Reptile first played in July 2005, then in December 2005, February and December 2008. I was hoping they'd play it again, but I was thinking it would be on mornings instead of overnights. Too bad it's a WMG song though. :(

This is one of the most repeated playlists. :dunno: BTW, who does that steel drum song in the morning?
-
BTW, who does that steel drum song in the morning?
That's "Sunshine (Instrumental)" by Timbuk 3. It was aired previously on Wake Up With Al on September 1st. Nice song :)
-
Overall its a solid playlist. :)
-
Overall its a solid playlist. :)
Really? One of the most boring, terrible playlists ever imo.
I think it's clear TWC needs to switch back to all smooth jazz. It's clear there aren't enough instrumental rock songs for TWC to play. And please enough Chris Geith and Ryan Farish!
-
I love Ryan's work... but I can't understand how this became a promotion for his new albums. I would kill to hear some of his more classic songs, such as "Beautiful", "Fall Rain", or most of all, "Full Sail".
-

Or better yet, some more of his older Selected Works and In The Day songs. :D

I agree. They're running out of non-jazz songs to use, so they're forced to reuse other nonjazz songs from previous lists instead.
-

Well personally Ive heard worst. I guess solid is a bit strong but I dont feel its the worst. I agree. TWC seriously needs to relook at its choice of music selection. Its attempt to reach a broad audience is a poor one at best
-

Yes, I wish they'd drop this instrumental rock and pop and soundtrack stuff. They need to stick to jazz completely. Or at least 90% of the songs should be jazz. I also wish they'd extend the daytime playlist to 7 or 8pm, since that is when the best (meaning smooth jazz) songs are on. It is hard to hear the complete list in the daytime, because with all that Tornado! and Storm Stories programming, on afternoons after 2pm, all you'd hear is 1 min LOT8s or sometimes none.
-
This would be a great time to bring back Steve Hurst, who programmed the music from 2000-2007. He played plenty of jazz, but threw in a small variety of rock instrumentals in too without playing the same stuff all the time.
-
I love Ryan's work... but I can't understand how this became a promotion for his new albums. I would kill to hear some of his more classic songs, such as "Beautiful", "Fall Rain", or most of all, "Full Sail".
To be honest, I would agree with you Aaron. I wish to hear some of his classic songs (Full Sail is one of my favorite classics). But I'm also very happy that three of his Bloom songs are on this month's playlists. Nothing to be too mad about. ;)
-
IMO, any Ryan Farish needs to be excluded from the playlists. His music is way overused and all I ever hear if Farish this Farish that. I have every RF song TWC used but the style sounds the same for each one and makes the songs sound boring after awhile
-
We all have our opinions. Same way Lynn Patrick's and Patrick Droney's songs all sound the same. I, on the other hand, can easily tell one RF song from another... but I can see how not everyone can.
-

Another point as well. Droney's music is good..but sound the same. Noone here can stand Lynn Patrick's style. She's also been overused and most of her songs (except Sparrows in flight, I love that song) lack melody and 'rhythm'

Ryan Farish is sort of the "Jim Cantore" of the artists for the playlists. I really enjoy his music and don't mind too much. There could be much worse
-
In a lot of ways, Ryan Farish has become the second Trammell Starks in terms of LF music. From what I'm sensing, I think everyone likes Ryan's music overall but would just like to see a wider variety of artists as each new playlist is revealed to give us the chance to discover new artists and new songs that we've never heard.

Probably cost more money to get more variety. I wouldn't be surprised if that too is a limiting factor

That's a very good point Patrick... and I buy that. But Martin, I think a lot of us could agree that TWC should reair classics from eons ago... which I highly doubt costs all that much more than promoting his new albums.

Congrats on finally getting TWC HD, Alex! I see that you already like uploading playlist clips this way. :P

Now there are 3 of us with HD. I really think we should leave full playlist clips to Molly.

Thanks, but I honestly don't care at this point. I'll still upload playlist clips but just keep in mind that uploading every single song in each list is not an easy job...especially one with a lot of repeats. I'm having a crisis in my life and am trying to leave the online world and TWC as part of the plan but it's not working very well. I am desperately trying to seek other interests besides TWC but idk..

This is probably my first-ever post in here (I'm just a reader who wants info on TWC stuff) but I want to give a "heads-up" that the song on the daytime playlist entitled "Argentina" by Darryl Williams (and listed as unavailable) is in fact titled by the artist as "Costa Rica" and is from his CD "That Was Then"... and it is very much available on Amazon etc. Which is a good thing because it's about the only worthwhile song on this playlist IMO. Doesn't it seem like the best songs lately always seem to be the "unavailable" ones? :(
I don't give up on the songs I like without a fight. :club: Glad I found that one and hope someone else wants it too!

I found this awhile back. It's retitled for licensing reasons. I like that song too, it has Wayman tisdale on bass

Wayman Tisdale is on bass?! It definitely does sound like him. I love his music :D RIP Wayman Tisdale.

Nothing But Love is not the worst song, but it is way overplayed. It has been used 4 of the 5 months in the year so far. :dunno: The worst song on primetime is Hedwig's Theme by far. It really does not fit the Weather Channel.

Except for the best overnight and morning, I couldn't possibly agree more with this list. I would choose "No Horizon" by Robert Wolf for the overnight, and Sunshine for the morning. :)

Daytime: Yvonne Ayers - Heart of Gold
This one I can't stand anymore for personal reasons

This one I can't stand anymore for personal reasons
I can't stand that one anymore. either. Yvonne is one of my favorite artists, but when I hear songs by him (real name is Leon), I'd expect to hear songs like "Best of Times" and "Summer Fragrance", not some minor-key sounding song such as "Heart of Gold".

Heart of gold is one of my favorites at least it's a jazzy tune...

Exactly, it's jazz for once. Best of Times, Weekend Spot, Empty Chairs, Things to see and the other past songs sound odd...and nonjazzy
-
Yeah, Heart of Gold also reminds me of 2004-2005 TWC music for some reason. Does anyone know if the recent songs were created by Yvonne or her husband Leon like the 2005-08 tunes? I can't find any of the newer stuff anywhere.

Morning: Alright. A few reuses from summer 09-10. 7/10 (OK)
Daytime: Good and best daypart right now since October 2009. Lot of jazz songs in it. No rock music. Only 1 reuse music from summer 09-10. Wish they play this daypart until 6PM CT. 10/10 (good)
Primetime: Horrible since Nov/Dec 09. 4 reuses from last year. Hear it more often than daytime now since last September. As of right now, October 2009 is the recent/last primetime playlist to be good. 5/10 (Mediocre)
Overnight: Alright as usual. 7/10 (OK)
Overall: Alright playlist. 7/10 (OK)

Worst: John Williams - Hedwig's Theme (worst song period on the playlist)
Overnight
Best: Eric Clapton - Psyche (though it fits better in primetime)
Worst: None

It's Reptile. Psyche is by Tony Davilio from the September 09 Morning list.

/me is ready for the next playlist
It's already been a full two months that the playlist has been running. The new playlist should air any day now between today and the first week of June.
-
/me is ready for the next playlist
me too. I hope next playlist doesn't has a lot of repeats and primetime needs to get better.
-
i hope the new playlist starts memorial day that would be a nice treat

I'm not holding my breath about primetime. Primetime hasn't been good since July 2009. I definitely hope there isn't anymore repeats, but seeing the recent track record of TWC, there are going to be repeats. The only repeats from the last year I'd like to hear again are This Place Hotel from Marcus Johnson, Psyche by Tony Davilio, and King of the Burgs by Lettuce. Thumper by Aangel is pretty cool too.
-

yup like last june's list.

Memorial Day last year was 6 days before the new list. :P But yeah, I hope it starts on May 31st. That was a surprise to me when it started a day early and an overnight song played on daytime.

What was also strange is that a different cut of that song was used during the daytime, and it only existed on 5/31.
-
Ah yes, I fogot that "Smiles" by Present Tense used its May 2008 cut on the first day.
-
Yeah Heat Death of the Universe did have a different daytime cut. I have an overnight clip of the song and it sounded different. The overnight cut is 2:25

Someone help this person! :P

This seems to be the neverending playlist. When will the new playlist begin, already?!
-
Maybe next week. As the old saying goes, "the best is always last". I felt that the March playlist would never start after the lame Jan list but it was well worth waiting 2 whole months given the huge number of new, good indie jazz and the such
-
Exactly. Who knows, the next playlist may be a lot of new good stuff. There haven't been any playlists that lasted for two months or more so I'm guessing within the next week it will change.
-
I got an email saying it should be starting soon. However I wonder how soon soon is :P

Soon could be tomorrow or two weeks from now with how things have gone lately. :P Let's hope this long delay means a really good playlist is being prepared!

I agree. It would not shock me either way if the playlist changes today or towards the end of June. It is going into three months that this playlist has carried on. It is not that good to be playing for that long.
-
It's sad today is not soon :pinch:

If it were to change today, or some other day, it will likely change during the primetime. It seems that the primetime is the time when the new playlists debut, judging by the recent track record.

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully soon.

Something is telling me it will be Thursday when it changes.

Something is telling me it will be Thursday when it changes.
That'd be a good birthday present :P
But no, I'm starting to lose optimism with anything TWC.
-
I had a hunch it would start today during the primetime slot but guess not. Maybe Thursday given the past patterns or perhaps tomorrow
-
In 10 days, it'll be three months that this playlist has continued.
-

no, two months
-
Well sometime I have the same logic. Yes, it is over a 2 month span, but the span covers parts of 3 months.
-
I never heard anything back via email so who knows
-
if the delay is related to the HD Star's Release then i can wait patiently.
-
If the delay is related to the HD STAR's release, then I suppose I can wait patiently.
That is months, possibly years, away. I am highly doubtful the HD STAR has anything to do with this playlist.

"Mahogany" by lao Tizer gets me the most. I have 3 recordings of that song and none of "Heart of Gold" by Yvonne Ayers.

I actually meant I couldn't stand that one, hence the  emoticon. :P

I don't understand what the uproar is over Heart of Gold. It is a nice, mellow, jazzy song. It is one of the few legitimate smooth jazz songs on the playlist.
-
I just love how things happen when I don't have the means of recording them. Perfect did not play once last evening, and it just aired at 8:18 this morning. I only caught about a minute of it, since I don't record many 90 second local forecasts and thus did not have the tuner window open.
-
also Locomotion by James Brown didn't play yesterday afternoon.
-
I didn't hear Viva Las Vegas yesterday either.
-
That's weird how all these songs are playing on the wrong timeslots
-
I wonder if this is a sign of possible changes ahead to the playlist...

Possibly, or a delay.

That darn music randomizer did not cooperate with me last night. I mean, really? 20 times that Freddie Freeloader aired last evening and into the overnight. The James Brown song and Magnificent were the two main songs that aired during the morning this morning.

Really? All I heard was the Little Women theme. I only heard Magnificent once at 10:38am

I don't remember how often Magnificent aired, but it was at least 4 or 5 times. I saved a clip of it from 7:58. This Day Was Coming aired about a dozen times.
