This is off topic, but what's been with all the IS outages recently? :dunno: And could the Satellite ISs be effected?

The topic was actually the reason I asked because I doubt many ISs nationwide would all be going out for nothing unless TWC's doing some sort of maintenance on them.
I've gone off on a journey to be a moderator at another forum, but this place will forever remain home for me~

Then why did you say it was off topic? It clearly was and did not have any relevance to this topic. You doubt many systems would go out nationally for nothing? Outages and systems issues are not unheard of. Warnings will be issued for future off topic activity.

I'm actually glad there shouldn't be any more changes to the IntelliSTAR, as I think it's now perfect the way it is. I am curious, though, as ti what the next thing after the IntellISTAR will be because it can't stay around forever. That could be another several years or so, of course.

It's funny how not even the XL is anywhere near showing signs of degradation, and it is now older than the 4000 was when degradation began being reported. Thing is, both the XL and the Intellistar were built to last, and they most likely will for quite some time. I too like the Intellistar, but especially with the new LDL, I don't think TWC is using the Intellistar to the best of its capabilities.

No, that's the exact opposite of what I meant. I was saying that the Intellistar is not used to its fullest capabilities.

Al is correct - they began pushing it's limits with the implementation of the blue LDL in 2008.

Yeah, the blue LDL I would definitely agree was pushing the limits, so to speak. But this new LDL...

This LDL is pushing the limits even further than the blue LDL.

Yeah, especially the animated icons and that little white line below the orange bar that moves to the left and right.

The XL and IS have a hard drive with graphics stored on them. The 4000 has everything in its memory boards which are dusty and falling apart by now. With an XL or IS its all or nothing.

When the HD Star rolls out, will it run alongside an exisiting IS?  If that's the case, do you think the IS would get a new look to the LOT8 to match whatever the HD Star looks like?
