It's Been almost a Full Year since the Morning Daypart was Added in as part of the Daypart playlist TWC issues.
Do You think TWC should get rid of it? or keep it as is?
-
terrible idea imo i miss those days to when there were 3 dayparts ):
-
Bad idea as well although it was only added because many of the rock and pop songs were fitting for morning. Many of the morning songs sound suitable on primetime iMO, and this would give better variety and less repeats for the Primetime list. I wish the morning list would be dumped though and Daytime was back to 15 smooth jazz songs
-
No. They shouldn't get rid of it. I like having a morning playlist to hear while I get ready for school in the early mornings.
-
Yeah, I don't mind it either. My biggest problem really is the length of the daytime, but if they would take the start of the primetime list up to 7 ET where it belongs, then that wouldn't be an issue. It also would be a lot better if they would stop airing so many repeats.
-
I don't mind it either. It allows for five more songs to be a part of the total playlist.
-
Don't know about you Ana, but morning needs to go. As others have stated, repeats can be avoided more. There's too many songs on the playlist now that TWC runs out of songs to put in. There's only so many instrumentals (especially rock) that are on BMI...

Which exactly is the issue for TWC here. Or they can use rock songs from awhile back, not within the past year

If rock is what Darby likes, then a better idea is to have one 8-song rock playlist assigned for mornings and evenings, and have it run from 6-11am and 7-10pm. Then have daytime (11am-7pm) and overnight (10pm-6am) each consisting of 14 songs, which totals up to about the same amount TWC had prior to the morning playlist addition. This way TWC can play a more equal amount of music and not run out of ideas. Besides, rock is fitting for morning and primetime anyway, and it also saves TWC some money from using so many songs.

you should send that to TWC and Brian Picard. And the Daytime and Overnight songs can be jazz?

Yep  i obviously couldn't do it on my own so maybe you and Alex (and anyone else who likes this idea) can help.

I'd agree with Aaron on that one. The daytime list is super lengthy. Maybe if they can extend like... one more hour of the morning playlist, It'll be much more even. I really don't mind the repeats. It's called recycling. Besides, it's really not that bad.

Well the repeats aren't bad if they aren't being repeated right into the next playlist when the previous one ran like 3 months, it makes it just as much of a turn off to listen to just like one that's overplayed (ex: "Songbird" and "Let It Rain") You would think those are the only 2 songs that exist from the Primetime playlist. For me I'm mixed on this, I think I would like it more if it wasn't so short (thanks to WUWA) and the same for the Daytime, it shouldn't end until at least 7 ET at the earliest.

Tavores, thanks for clarifying that on Songbird and Let it Rain, I thought it was just me feeling as if those were the only two songs on the primetime daypart lol.

LOL count me in. Nothin But Love by Boney James was brought back from January/February 2010 and that list felt like forever. I think TWC really needs to focus more into the smooth jazz genre because I can't just see them continuing with this selection. I count at least 16-17 songs in this playlist that were used on a previous playlist. Back in 2008 and early 2009 (except March) there were few repeated songs because most of the music was new smooth jazz music and a bit of Ryan Farish from time to time. The extra dayparts just puts an extra burden as to how many songs are used, the types, etc.

It doesn't have to. The reason it does is because of how TWC/NBC is going about it.

Yup and unfortunately it's their decision. It doesn't bother me for the most part because the more NBCU messes with TWC, the more I can lose interest in TWC and move on to other things. (which I'm having trouble doing)

Hey, you and me both! Recent changes in how I view TWC have put further stress on that issue. :offtopic:

You misunderstood him... he was saying how short the daytime playlist is, and I can agree with that. The portion of the day we call daytime is longer than nighttime during most of the year anyways so it makes sense for it to be longer than the other dayparts.
-
Exactly. It is incredibly difficult now to catch much of the daytime list when I travel, since most hotels don't let you stay later than noon (even though Holiday Inn Express does let you have extended checkout), and I can't get to these places very early.
-
Wrong thread. Anyways, this is silly and should go.

There are farrrrrr too many repeats. Not only do I mean repeats in terms of former playlist songs, but songs that play several times in a row. Last week, I heard Toss the Feathers play at least 6 times in the morning. And I completely agree that they should play smooth jazz, and not just the typical run-of-the-mill smooth jazz like Boney James. I don't understand TWC's aversion to playing smooth jazz during primetime. I rarely listen to primetime, because all I hear are theme songs and rock.

The morning daypart is alright. One problem is I don't get to hear the daytime daypart often during the week (expect breaks) now.
