Post by: Localonthe8s on May 13, 2008, 05:58:04 PM
Here's the May 2007 playlist in .xls format. You can see the time-in/timeout of the vocal music and "Miss Libby" by Michael Ripoll too which is at :15.

Enjoy! B)

Some errors in the playlist.

1. Randall Chowing didn't wrote "Pork Rinds and Brandy."
2. You type Kin Hansen which the first name is wrong.

His name is actually spelled "Randle." I believe the reason why his name is on there because he was the one who sent the songs to TWC. The person who composed the song was Mike Lemaster.

I remember someone else here saying that he asked Chris for the 2/07 and 4/07 playlists, and Chris said that the 2/07 playlist was the same as 1/07, and 4/07 was the same as 3/07.

I think it was Billy. Well what Chris said is a lie. We need to contact Steve Hurst. He's the only one left who knows. Only Matt knows how to get in touch with him

I don't think Brian can gove u those playlists. He wasn't the music director at the time. You COULD contact him however for the alien song when he was director back then.

Like I said. for the November 2006 and feb/Apr 07 playlist u'll need to contact Steve Hurst for it.

If you know his name and how @weather.com email addresses work, it's not difficult to figure out...

Anyway, I got a reply from Brian:

Hi Billy,

Thanks for your inquiry.   I took over the music programming for “Local On The 8s” back in October 2007.    I do not have the information for November 2006, but I can provide some information on February and April 2007.    According to my records, January and February 2007 have the same playlist (we played the same songs for both months).  The same goes for March and April 2007.   So, the January and March 2007 local forecast playlists include February and April, respectively.

Thanks,

Brian

So now all debate should be over regarding when he started, and according to him, January and February 2007, and March and April 2007 were combined, just like what Chris H. told me.

Wow he's nice enough to reply back! :o

Could you ask him to ID the alien song and how TWC obtains the music?

I still don't believe that January/February and March/April were combined. I could've sworn that I heard different music every month and that the bi-monthly playlists didn't start until May. I remember us all being surprised with the change to bi-monthly when the same music from May also played in June.

If Brian Picard started in October 2007, does that mean that Steve Hurst was actually responsible for the vocal music in May 2007 and the subsequent switch to the bi-monthly format, or was there an interim music director? Nevertheless, the playlists returned to being monthly when Mr. Picard took over.

No they were NOT combined whether Brian says so or not. I certainly do not recall songs like "By Grace" and "Hampton Blvd" by Ryan Farish playing in January, or "Pork Rinds and Brandy" by Mike Lemaster in March.

I got a reply from Brian Picard regarding one of my unknown songs (http://myrandomtwcstuff.googlepages.com/UnknownSong16.mp3) from April 2007:

Hi Derek,

Thanks for your e-mail.   The song sounds familiar of course, and I was almost certain that it was either a Mark Krurnowski or Patrick Yandall piece.   Unfortunately, we have not been able to positively identify the song title.    I took over the music responsibilities here at TWC last October, so I did not select that song from the original source.    We will keep searching though.   I will keep you posted.

Brian
