HD STAR, which was recently due out this November, has been pushed back (yet again). No new time line at this point
This certainly is taking longer than I expected. It's been in beta since September of last year, and I figured it would be ready to be rolled out nationwide within a few months like the case with the other STARs    Then again, the HD STAR's has a lot more animated graphics than the others.

It's not being canceled, just extensively delayed. They've run into hardware troubles...

No surprises whatsoever. The HD STAR is a complete waste of time and money, imo.

They could have just upgraded the STAR v 1 or 2 to the HD feed, change the fonts and screen size and that would have worked until they get a new graphics package (probably another year or two).

Yah, plus it has delayed several other more important things such as an IntelliStar graphics change, which in theory is due late this year. The HD STAR seems to be TWC's top priority at this point  :hmm:

That isn't possible, since the current STARs don't have HD capabilities.

TWC's HD transition in general was a complete waste, They haven't been organized or doing anything right since last year, this HD Star that should have been finished and up and running a long time ago is a good example.

Encoding issues?  (I forget - is TWC 720p or 1080i?)

Guys, what we thought was the HD STAR Beta could not be true. If you notice, the feed was coming out in stereo and IIRC, a STAR Unit is what causes TWC SD to broadcast in mono (for those with a STAR :P). So overall, I think it's a feed coming directly from Atlanta.

:wall: How is it a waste of time? The LF is the staple of TWC. Without it, kiss the majority of viewers goodbye.

If you're saying what I think you are... it's impossible. None of the current STARs, including the Istar are HD compatible.

A motherboard issue, apparently.

The beta HD local in New York is an actual beta STAR. It's not a national feed.

Allow me to explain it the best way possible. The SD feed is fine. The VAST majority of viewers don't give two shrimps to HD nor the HD LF and get what they need from the SD STARs. People tune in to see their local information (forecasts, CC guesses, etc), and don't care how it is presented. There are several thousand STARs still in use that TWC and the STAR team need to pay attention to, which is an issue far more important than an HD STAR. TWC is moving way too fast, and has far better things to spend their money and time on than a STAR most people couldn't care less about.

You know what, you're right. TWC doesn't do customer research or anything like that. They don't receive daily emails from viewers asking why there is no local on the HD version of TWC. So, since you just contradict everything I say anyway, maybe I just won't post useful information here anymore.

Well put  The IntelliStar is due for an update soon as I mentioned, as it's been nearly two years since the current design has been out

I think that it should be out by late December or anytime after that.
