I noticed it too. The two new songs I heard were both vocal but maybe primetime will have some instrumentals like June. I was impressed with the overnight last month

TWC National Local on the 8s from July 2012 #5 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWiV83WJ8W0#)

This playlist is a big step in the right direction, and I like many of the songs this month. Jane Eyre and Proposed Solution are two of my all-time favorites :smoke2:. Now, if only they could banish those vocals from the local forecasts (or what's left of them), especially Lady Gaga's songs :club:.
TWC seems to be on the way up from a very low bottom. The music has been better from June onward, and other aspects of the precipitous decline have stabilized. They're still close to rock bottom and have a long way to go, but at least they're starting to move in the right direction. The only two songs that I've actually liked this entire year so far are Running Out of Time by Matthew Shuman (Apr 2012) and Deluge by Jeff Pearce (Jun 2012).
EDIT: I think the 2-minute flavors are back in the morning hours at least? Zach's clip was a 2 minute LF. It's the first I've seen of them since 90-second flavors became the longest flavor in late May.
-
Song at :58 sounds like Lynn Patrick

Yeah, I heard it. I was either thinking her or Andy McKee.

The 2:00 LFs were never discontinued on YWT or WUWA.

7:58pm ET "This Dance" Five for Fighting
-
6:28am ET "Houdini" Foster the People
Again, I have already posted that.. If you read through these threads you would already know. ;)
-
Instrumentals on overnight: pure prairie league - early morning riser , Timbuk 3 - sunshine, different cut of Love of Strings, Ben Kopec - Perfect Emotion , 2 songs off of 7and5s new album (see the road and walk, blue tomorrow) and a new Lynn Patrick song

Sounds good.
-
Early Morning Riser and Sunshine are not overnight songs, IMO. Even if they are on the "just instrumentals" daypart.
-
There were two vocal songs on overnight too -_-

Those are pretty good songs, IMO.
I know it's still 5+ months away, but I just HOPE that the holiday playlist will have all of the traditional songs that TWC plays every year.
-
The holidays are indeed very far, but they I expect vocal holiday music with maybe a few traditional annual songs thrown in the mix.
I'm a fan of the "Sunshine" by Timbuk-3! Nice choice.
-
Cool that 7and5 is back.

That's what I'm thinking too, would be a shame in a way if they did considering it's not a traditional 1 month + type of playlist, but I wouldn't be bothered by any vocals.
-
Looks like "Mihalis" by David Gilmour is on the overnight playlist but I recorded the overnight yesterday and I did NOT hear this song play. I wonder if it only played on the HD feed because I was recording SD at the time.

How are you sure its the same time? Because nowhere does it say overnight nor is the time given in that LF
-
I'll admit that I'm surprised "Olympic Spirit" isn't playing. It seems to fit with TWC's new taste in genre, and the Olympics are here, after all!
I heard a song on primetime that sounds similar to David Keen's "Sierra." I like both songs.

You would have to look at the maps and temps closely. The temps wouldn't drop to 63 at 10 pm given the high temps during the past few days ;)
-
i really don't see why the HD Star doesn't have a clock yet, it would make alot of sense to add one. Especially in the case of the video below.
-
It seemed they were done adding songs as I did not notice any new adds until today,
1:28pm ET "No More Cloudy Days" Eagles
-
They don't intermittently add songs like you say they do... They're all added at once, but maybe you're just hearing them for the first time. I've already explained this twice to you.

You have to remember that the songs are played randomly throughout the month, so it's very easy to miss hearing what was added to a playlist if you only watch a few LFs per day. They were all added at the start of the month as Zach said above.
-
I get what the both of you are saying. I'm just posting the first time I'm hearing the songs played if they have not been posted already.
They are not new to the playlist just new to me.
9:28am ET "Where the Boat Leaves From" Zac Brown Band.
10:18am ET "Under the Weather" KT Tunstall
-
Warning: Anyone who has uploaded "Pinwheels", take it down. I got a copyright strike for uploading it.
-
Is it me, or does Pinwheels kinda sound like "Cross the Heartland" by Pat Metheny Group?

The holidays are indeed very far, but they I expect vocal holiday music with maybe a few traditional annual songs thrown in the mix.
That would be the lousiest Christmas ever, TWC-wise of course. It would be a real travesty. I'm generally not a fan of vocal music even for Christmas, with a few exceptions. They need a Christmas list like they had in 2010. 2011's list was subpar. However, there is still hope. After all, as late as September of last year the very existence of a Christmas playlist was questionable, given the L-bar situation, but they got rid of the L-bars before Christmastime rolled around. So there is time for improvement, though I wouldn't hold my breath.
-
I don't want to drift away from the topic of course but I agree about the Xmas 2010 list. That was an excellent Christmas playlist, with so many songs...(so many I couldn't even get all of the clips recorded). The Jeanne Ricks and Beach Street Music tunes stood out. I expect the Xmas 2012 list to be similiar to the past lists, it's just that they're gonna replace the jazzy songs with vocals (dunno if Vince Guaraldis tunes are that jazzy).
-
Many of the songs they used though were mainstream enough, such as Guaraldi's songs, and others, so I doubt that those would be touched.

Subpar? I thought both were fairly great. I actually liked the 2011 list better than the 2010 one.

They need to play the Olympic spirit by John Williams sooner or later(maybe in august). Song seems like a perfect choice for the Olympic events
-
They finally posted the July playlist on weather.com

I'd imagine we'll hear it in August.
-
I got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed they bring back Rocky Top by Chet Atkins for August.........
