Title: Intellistar conversion question
Post by: mikemikeb on September 05, 2010, 07:18:49 AM
In theory, how difficult would it be to convert an Intellistar that has been used for TWC, into one used for WeatherScan?  Thanks.

You don't. They're two completely different software platforms iirc.

From what I understand, the hardware in the domestic IS is identical to the hardware on the Weatherscan IS. The only difference is the installed software. So yes, I believe in theory it would be possible by swapping out the hard drives in each unit.

Correct  It's all hardware you can buy from Best Buy or Microcenter, with the exception of the ThunderStorm card... so I would have to say that swapping the hard disk is all that would need to happen.

As demonstrated by one individual, its possible to modify the theme and images used by a STAR so in theory yes you could  modify it.
