What's with the overuse of their new CD? I mean I know it's being released in June, but do they need to use almost nothing but the songs from that CD?
Title: Re: Here is the June 2008 Playlist
Post by: Localonthe8s on May 30, 2008, 03:35:24 PM
I was about to say. There's absoulately no variety. They could use the entire CD for one daypart.

Only 7 non-TWC CD songs.

Remember that they did that with the first CD.

I have three of the songs on the CD.....  <_<

Yep, I'll record the clips but I can say i'll be wasting my time hearing the same song being played local after local.

There's 30-some songs on that list. How do you figure to hear the same songs repeatedly?

The same songs are being played primetime and daytime. I might be recording all primtimes songs for daytime instead since a majority of daytime songs are also in the primetime and it would be a waste of time....err.. you get the point

This playlist sucks! No Ryan Farish again... I want to hear Sahara Wind, and that Eddie Reasoner song from August 2003. Also, I will NOT be recording in June unless it's a spiecal/holiday and  because this playlist has a lot of songs from the CD. I will only record Rainbow Seeker by Joe Sample (hasn't heard his songs since 2006),Restless Heart (it's better be the Timeless World version), by Chris Geith and his two songs we hasn't heard before, and Friday's Child by Bradley Joseph.  Also it's glad to still has Chris Geith's songs on TWC.

Good point. New CD music should only air on TWC for 2 weeks according to this article:  http://jazzhq.blogspot.com/2008/05/weather-channel-best-of-smooth-jazz-ii.html
, then i believe the July 2008 playlist will get early an early start. Although a fresh June 2008 playlist would be appreaciated.

Sorry i made a mistake:

Sorry this song is "Big Country" by Eric Marienthal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma5YzgsAF7c

Animistic by Scott Ward is this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-6e8VAUEXQ

It has a same sound as "Cadenza"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgBXUKxggss

and "For the Touch by Chris Geith" is the song that i thought was Animistic
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZckclCVMw4

Sorry for the mixup hope this clears some confused minds!

Victor, I have an MP3 of Love of Strings on my PC. Unlike the one on the June 08 playlist, this starts out mono and then all the drumbeats come in and stuff. Check out the Love of Strings on this site and you'll know what I mean.

Which album is the song from that you have?

Mine is from the 18 B Sides album and the song starts with a light melody in the background following by drumbeats.

Mine is from the same album I think.

I'm just pointing out that the one on the playlist starts off with the drumbeats and all of that.

Don't some of the TWC songs skip some parts in the beginning?

Songs like Soon Enough (Lincoln), StringBean (Brian Hughes, although not always skipped), come to mind.

Gary, since Network Music has songs composed for TWC would this song be possibly titled to "Network Music" instead of "Chris Geith" instead?

Timmy, yes they start at different cuts because the music director feels that the songs sound awkward in the beginning. The songs usually air whenever the main beat/melody is heard.

In my opinion, any song from the NM library should be titled to them and not Chris Geith.

Has anyone been able to get Network Music songs before? Maybe that song is somewhat available currently...

If you look closely, you can obtain that (or any Network Music song) song right this minute. You just have to have some ingenuity.  :sunglasses:

Remember that they did that with the first CD.

I have three of the songs on the CD.....  <_<
I have every song in the TWC CD except for the Charlie Parker and Eric Marienthal tune.

Yes, I found the songs. It was in the Killer Tracks library.

Sorry for the double post but has anyone been able to find any info about Scott Ward?

Cadenza and Animistic are AWESOME songs. Seriously, these may be my most favorite songs so far this year. I have been listening to 2 minute clips and it's nothing like listening to the whole song. I haven't been able to find much info other than a Scott Ward who composes orchestral pieces (sounds nothing like the two songs) and someone named Greg Ward who is a saxophonist.

How do you do that? Eric is a saxophonist and Chris is a pianist.  :whistling:

But his primary instrument is the piano. You shouldn't have any trouble distinguishing between the two artists.

Restless Heart is the only one, isn't it?

And what does that have to do with what we're discussing?

Nope he has other sax songs like "Island of a Thousand Dreams" 5/08, "Fountain of Youth" 4/08, "Agent of Destiny" 4/08. "Nice to Meet you" from 3/08

BTW, here's Lydian by Norman Brown. haven't heard this song since March 2006! B)

Still, I've heard all his songs and its impossible to confuse him with Eric Marienthal. Maybe it's because I've been listening to him since the late 80's/early 90's, when his music first aired on TWC.

Wade In The Water   /  Ramsey Lewis /   TWC Smooth Jazz II

This is the artist who did another song I've been looking for years, and I just found it! It's called "The In Crowd," and was played back in February 2003.

Finally, I recorded Friday's Child by Bradley Joseph one of my favorite songs in this playlist. Now I only need CYFTTW by David Benoit, La Salsa En Mi by Bernie Williams, and Rainbow Seeker by Joe Sample.

Yeah, I remember that song from Feb 2003 too. It's probably one of the most famous jazz/smooth jazz songs ever written.

If I'm not mistaken, I might've heard that song on a Jaguar commercial a few years ago.
