What's with the overuse of their new CD? I mean I know it's being released in June, but do they need to use almost nothing but the songs from that CD?
-
I was about to say. There's absoulately no variety. They could use the entire CD for one daypart.
Only 7 non-TWC CD songs.
-
Remember that they did that with the first CD.
I have three of the songs on the CD..... <_<
-
looks like im not recording the overnight list :furious:
-

The June playlist hasn't started yet. Victor just received the playlist a few days early.
-
You guys all praised the new CD, but now complain that their using it? Good lord.
-
Yep, I'll record the clips but I can say i'll be wasting my time hearing the same song being played local after local.
-
There's 30-some songs on that list. How do you figure to hear the same songs repeatedly?
-

The same songs are being played primetime and daytime. I might be recording all primtimes songs for daytime instead since a majority of daytime songs are also in the primetime and it would be a waste of time....err.. you get the point
-
Quit complaining, eh?
-
I'm not complaining...I'm just bummed that I have three of the songs already. I've been looking for Big Country forever...glad I can pick it up.
Quit complaining, eh?
Didn't know you were Canadian, Gary...... :rofl2:

I wasn't directing that at you Matt. :sunglasses:
Well, you know now! :P :rofl2:

Lets just wait and see if i have my camera on hand then i hopefully will record as much as i can.
-
Quit complaining, eh?
Then why did you ask me that question?

I didn't see it that way but OK fine with me :)
I found nothing about Scott Ward and Chris Geith's Somehow Someday so that's a bummer.

That's because you were too busy cocking attitudes and complaining. ;)

This playlist sucks! No Ryan Farish again... I want to hear Sahara Wind, and that Eddie Reasoner song from August 2003. Also, I will NOT be recording in June unless it's a spiecal/holiday and because this playlist has a lot of songs from the CD. I will only record Rainbow Seeker by Joe Sample (hasn't heard his songs since 2006),Restless Heart (it's better be the Timeless World version), by Chris Geith and his two songs we hasn't heard before, and Friday's Child by Bradley Joseph. Also it's glad to still has Chris Geith's songs on TWC.

I'm not going to argue with you any further. PM me if you want.
-
What a suckish playlist <_<
I agreed with you. I only recording the songs I like.
-
Hey, maybe if we're lucky, this playlist will get cut short just like the first CD playlist, and we'll get a new playlist in mid-June. Hey, you never know.

Good point. New CD music should only air on TWC for 2 weeks according to this article: http://jazzhq.blogspot.com/2008/05/weather-channel-best-of-smooth-jazz-ii.html
, then i believe the July 2008 playlist will get early an early start. Although a fresh June 2008 playlist would be appreaciated.
-
Terrible playlist. Again.
-
Remember that they did that with the first CD.
I have three of the songs on the CD..... <_<
I have every song (artist's album) on the smooth jazz II CD. Looks like I wont be buying this one
-
I love it how people are complaining about this playlist. Funny thing is that it hasn't even aired yet.
-
What an awesome playlist!!! It's been awhile since I've heard some Joe Sample and Jeff Lorber. :worship:

agreed with you. But one day, I heard Rainbow Seeker by Joe Sample during my spring break (only here).
-
The Dustin Garrett tune can be downloaded here from their site
http://www.dustingarrettandthetexascruisers.com/
-
Wow, that's a long URL!
Billy, How do you figure? I for one have heard most of those songs.
-
I've heard most of these songs too. It's great to hear "Love of Strings" by Moby back though. Haven't heard that song since December 2005!
-

I'm with you on that. People need to quit complaining. Don't get me wrong, if you don't like a playlsit, you don't like it. But it goes from normal to chronic complaining when its the same people month after month griping.
-
I don't believe I've ever heard of "Scott Ward". So far I've had no luck finding him...

Chris told me the playlist would start on June 1st.

We're not even half way through the day yet. Give it some time.
-
The latest time a playlist has started was 11 am. It's a pattern i noticed over the years
-
I don't get it, the playlist hasn't started yet
Wonder why because the playlist should have start at 4:08 am (I heard Del Fuego by CC Gilmore at that time, so it's still the May playlist <_<)
-
He must've been wrong. We'll probably see it tomorrow.
-
5:58...starts with Brave New World.
-
At 6:58 AM, I heard Restless Heart by Chris Geith with the same cut. :) I tried to recorded, but I stops it early. <_<

Thanks to the OP for posting this! I went to weather.com and searched for every song on the may playlist, not realizing it was June already! :rofl2: Anyway, I found the song I was looking for right away, the Moby one. I knew I'd heard it before.
-
Always nice to see someone finding the info their looking for. :sunglasses:

I heard Wade in the Water by Ramsey Lewis today. Not as good as the original TWC version...
Does anyone know the time-in of Wade in the Water when it was last used in 2005?
-

Out of curiousity, is your youtube account "ASquad51"?
-
Sorry i made a mistake:
Sorry this song is "Big Country" by Eric Marienthal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma5YzgsAF7c
Animistic by Scott Ward is this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-6e8VAUEXQ
It has a same sound as "Cadenza"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgBXUKxggss

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZckclCVMw4
Sorry for the mixup hope this clears some confused minds!
-
I remember hearing "Big Country" when I was 15 (before you were born, Victor :P ).....way back when

Oh yes, that song certainly goes way back.
-
Love of Strings! I love that song!
I remember first hearing it on the March 2005 primetime list. It was at first the strangest song I ever listened to.

I heard it on December 2005. The time-in is around :55-:56.
Also "For the Touch" by Chris Geith is not on BMI. Not good.

Network Music?
-
Victor, I have an MP3 of Love of Strings on my PC. Unlike the one on the June 08 playlist, this starts out mono and then all the drumbeats come in and stuff. Check out the Love of Strings on this site and you'll know what I mean.
-
Which album is the song from that you have?
Mine is from the 18 B Sides album and the song starts with a light melody in the background following by drumbeats.
-
Network Music?
Very interesting. I never thought I'd see the day Network Music made a comeback.
-
Mine is from the same album I think.
I'm just pointing out that the one on the playlist starts off with the drumbeats and all of that.
Don't some of the TWC songs skip some parts in the beginning?
Songs like Soon Enough (Lincoln), StringBean (Brian Hughes, although not always skipped), come to mind.
-
Gary, since Network Music has songs composed for TWC would this song be possibly titled to "Network Music" instead of "Chris Geith" instead?
Timmy, yes they start at different cuts because the music director feels that the songs sound awkward in the beginning. The songs usually air whenever the main beat/melody is heard.

In my opinion, any song from the NM library should be titled to them and not Chris Geith.

Has anyone been able to get Network Music songs before? Maybe that song is somewhat available currently...

If you look closely, you can obtain that (or any Network Music song) song right this minute. You just have to have some ingenuity. :sunglasses:
-
Gary, as a mater of fact both Chris Geith's songs on this list are NM tunes
-
How much does it cost?

Nothing, if your astute.
Very interesting Carlos! :twothumbs:

Would I have to call them?

Have you even been to the network music site yet?
-
Remember that they did that with the first CD.
I have three of the songs on the CD..... <_<
I have every song in the TWC CD except for the Charlie Parker and Eric Marienthal tune.
Yes, I found the songs. It was in the Killer Tracks library.
-
Sorry for the double post but has anyone been able to find any info about Scott Ward?
Cadenza and Animistic are AWESOME songs. Seriously, these may be my most favorite songs so far this year. I have been listening to 2 minute clips and it's nothing like listening to the whole song. I haven't been able to find much info other than a Scott Ward who composes orchestral pieces (sounds nothing like the two songs) and someone named Greg Ward who is a saxophonist.

How do you do that? Eric is a saxophonist and Chris is a pianist. :whistling:
-
Chris plays the sax too like in Restless Heart

Chris plays the sax too like in Restless Heart
But his primary instrument is the piano. You shouldn't have any trouble distinguishing between the two artists.

IMO i think his saxophone songs are the best.

Restless Heart is the only one, isn't it?
And what does that have to do with what we're discussing?
-
Nope he has other sax songs like "Island of a Thousand Dreams" 5/08, "Fountain of Youth" 4/08, "Agent of Destiny" 4/08. "Nice to Meet you" from 3/08
BTW, here's Lydian by Norman Brown. haven't heard this song since March 2006! B)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQVGgI8eTIM
-
Still, I've heard all his songs and its impossible to confuse him with Eric Marienthal. Maybe it's because I've been listening to him since the late 80's/early 90's, when his music first aired on TWC.
-
has anyone gotten a chance to record the overnight list?
-
If anyone wants a 2 minute satellite clip of "Animistic" by Scott Ward click here:

I heard a never before heard song at :58

Got a clip?
-
Sorry, I didn't have my tuner running at the time.

Wade In The Water / Ramsey Lewis / TWC Smooth Jazz II
This is the artist who did another song I've been looking for years, and I just found it! It's called "The In Crowd," and was played back in February 2003.
-
That song was also used in the July 2005 playlist at daytime.
-
Finally, I recorded Friday's Child by Bradley Joseph one of my favorite songs in this playlist. Now I only need CYFTTW by David Benoit, La Salsa En Mi by Bernie Williams, and Rainbow Seeker by Joe Sample.
-
I'm trying to record "Love of Strings" by Moby and the song keeps playing on a K flavor <_<

Yeah, I remember that song from Feb 2003 too. It's probably one of the most famous jazz/smooth jazz songs ever written.

If I'm not mistaken, I might've heard that song on a Jaguar commercial a few years ago.
