The cities on my SD STAR haven't changed.

Maybe it's temporary but I'm not sure why it would be...

Yeah it seems that pretty much every Comcast headend (and perhaps a few others) has been replacing their TWC SD feeds with a letterboxed simulcast of their TWC HD feeds. I wonder why.  :dunno:

To save money I would assume. When it comes to STARs, they would only have to worry about maintaining the IS2 rather than the IS/IS2 together on different feeds. That's just my guess though.

Yeah.  I think it's a whole lot easier just having to deal with one "feed" or format.  As has been discussed here a lot, many other stations just letterbox their HD feed for SD, ESPN/ESPN2 being a prime example that comes to my mind at this point.

IMO, if there was a way to just cut the sidebar from the IS2 (and maybe a slight bit of the video window), you could even take the IS2 feed and make it 4:3 for SD viewers, because the info is pretty much the same and presented in the same way.

From doing my research it's going to be additional production music. I just wish we had a real playlist again  :cry3: Why can't they mix a few of the past playlists songs along with current production and change them out every month or so?

If the headend has switched over to the HD feed simulcast for The Weather Channel, that I guess that means they no longer want their SD IntelliSTAR units, right? If that's the case, then I guess that the headend would have to send the units back to TWC HQ, wouldn't they?  :dunno:
