Has the song "Deep Sea Sharp" by Kenny Kilgore been used on TWC before? :dunno: It sounds familiar...

Uh, is it normal for the local radar screen to get skipped like this? :dunno:

There must have been too much stuff to fit in one minute would be my guess.  The Weather Bulletin took up two pages, so that used more time.  Another reason why the locals need to be longer... :club:

Andy, I completely agree with you on the locals.. and I mean, couldnt they just have it where the 36-hour forecast is cut down to a 24-hour forecast, that way the local radar screen could be shown in such an instance?

This LF is just fail.   About the only way to get everything in is to take about 7-10 seconds for each screen.  At that point, you pretty much have to record it and play it in slow motion after the fact.  So, they figure skipping screens is a better alternative in a lose-lose situation.  Imagine what it will be like when the 30-second LFs debut (and I hate to even give TWC the idea).

At 9:18PM PT, I saw the tides product on my STAR where the marine forecast product should be. Sadly, I was unable to get a video or picture of the now-rare tides screen.

Instrumentals are here to stay according to my source from Local On The 8s Support, the reason Smooth Jazz and Vocal Music had stop airing during the 8s is because TWC's budget towards music has run dry. (WeatherScan's Music isn't slated to change this year either.)

This makes sense because TWC is deciding to revamp sometime in late fall according to a friend of mine who got a reply earlier this week from Local On The 8s Support. "Local Weather all the time"

there is nothing announced at this time about changes to Flavors/Durations/Music/Weatherscan since i was told mostly everything is in discussion and up in the air at this time.

Well that can't be too bad, I mean it probably costs more to license vocal songs anyways

So, this means the vocals are gone?  I guess you could call that a win.  :)  For some reason, though, all I'm picturing when I hear "Local Weather all the time" is a continuous LDL with no actual LOT8's segments (and thus no music).  I suppose it could also mean that there will be a separate "local" TWC which will play continuous LFs, complete with music, while the "main" TWC shows longform or live (or not live) OCM segments.  Those are my two guesses, although I unfortunately think the former of the two is more real.

I'll be pretty happy if the vocals are gone. I know I've said this before, but there is no point in changing music styles in times of disaster and higher ratings. Keep the music consistently pleasant and professional without excessive tacky weather lyrics. It just makes sense, and this would be the first positive change in a long while.
