They should make sure that doesn't happen when talking about major events such as tornadoes or severe weather though.

Last Tuesday, new weather icons debuted on weather.com, but the weather icons still use the 2010-Present ones during Live Programming and the SD IntelliStar.
We do want the icons to be similar across all our platforms, but the process of updating icons on certain STAR computers (ie. older versions would not support new graphics, etc) would not make it possible. While consistency is the overall goal, these icons are more likely only to be on our digital platforms (ie. weather.com, mobile apps, interactive TV apps, etc) for now until we can confirm STAR updating for newer systems.
