Did anyone have any IS cueing issues as of 11:18 AM ET? I noticed that it's 11:20 AM ET and commercials are still running on DirecTV.

I think they purposely did that so they could cover the final space shuttle launch.

My area is still a . so i'm not able to see it.

I'm not sure if you've seen it by now, but here's how it looks. It's at the very beginning.

Local Forecast - 7/9/2011 4:28am (Stanley Turrentine - Side Steppin' )

On the :48 LF, the IS read the Weather Bulletin screen as 'The NWS has issued a weather bulletin'.

On the :58 LF, the IS read it as 'A Heat Advisory and an Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for our area'.

What is the difference, and why is it alternating?

For time most likely, like sometimes if the text forecast is long to save time it won't read things like the wind speeds or it will read a more simplified phase.

EDIT: Also the phase you said was used at :48 is used more often if you have more than 2 weather bulletins from what I've noticed.

Just saw something that I've never seen on the Memphis IntelliStar -- the Morning/Afternoon commute

I know that most STARs had it already, but I had never seen it before today on 24745.

What is the difference between the radar on the XL and IS? I know that the IS has HiRAD, but I wasn't sure if the XL did or not. The XL reminds me of a better color paletted version of the 4000's radar.

Hmm, I've never seen a weather bulletin written this way on the IntelliStar before...

That is VERY odd. We are under an Excessive Heat Warning and it is still showing in the basic format. Great catch!

I thought anyone might be interested in seeing the Williamsburg, VA intellistar.. (You may want to turn the speakers down, they are LOUD)

Video 1 was taken at 9:58pm on 6/20 , notice how Williamsburg itself, is listed on the Getaway page
Williamsburg, VA Intellistar 1 - 6/20/11 9:58PM

Video 2 was taken at 10:38pm and has a very interesting metro map:
Williamsburg, VA Intellistar 2 - 6/20/11 10:38PM

That is probably because Getaways are programmed based on DMA, and Williamsburg is in the Hampton Roads DMA.

The weather bulletin product takes it's information directly from the zone forecasts the NWS puts out, which is why there is no consistency to how the bulletins are formatted.

In the 12:38 CT SD sat LF, the look of the radar/satellite portion changed. The glassy border is gone, and there is now a fade transition between each region.

For some reason, the LF is already showing tomorrow's forecast, even though it's only 3:18 ET.
