Looks like the WeatherSTAR 4000 up in Omak, WA is no more.  :(  I went to my grandmother's house earlier today in Grand Coulee and brought along my tuner, but I still saw national forecasts when I looked on channel 12 via the local Charter cable headend.

The last time I looked was back in August, and like today I did not see the 4000 back then, so it appears that the unit was not in an outage stage and is definitely gone for sure based on my discovery.   :itsok:

Here is one of the satellite LFs that I recorded today:

Question: Has anyone ever heard or seen these phases on the text forecast before? :dunno:

"Lowering and thickening clouds. A steady snow developing as the day wears on." Skip to 0:28 to see it in the video.

I've seen that numerous times, I'm curious what causes the lag in the update (with the icons)

The satellite local bows has the boxes behind the cities on the radar/satellite maps, just like the cities on maps during live tv. Makes the cities easier to read.

Couple of things:
On Tavores' video, it looks like TWC has now properly shortened Jackson's narrations so that they don't get cut-off anymore.  For example, the wind speeds were not narrated.
On Alex's video, has TWC changed the order of the screens so that the Hourly Forecast comes before the 36-hour (err, 24-hour) forecast like it was on the old IS, or is that part of the error?

It would help tremendously. Just like it would help if they didn't make the template for the weekend on the SD IS transparent because it's nearly impossible to read on a bright BG. It should be dark just like MON-FRI is. I think people have the common sense to be able to differentiate between the weekdays and the weekend w/o doing it the way it is now. (at least I hope they do...) :P

Local Forecasts in Storm Alert Mode 12/21/13

I actually really like this theme! Very nice

I'm noticing my IS is about 5 seconds late to start the local forecast and the national plays and then it's 5 seconds late to end. Is this a known issue or should I report it in the WeatherStar section?

I've heard of it happening before. Usually a unit reset fixes it. I'd pass it along to the support section if it's still occurring :)

Wow, I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually *glad* for once. I thought those two songs would be playing FOREVER. :o Still miss the instrumental/jazz stuff they have on

I had a feeling that the vocal music would return at some point   but I'm a bit surprised it took TWC this long to restore the vocal music after November's graphics update, I thought the network would do it almost right away.

Bummer that the vocal music is back.  :itsok:  The three production tracks were enjoyable while they lasted, even if they were being repeated over and over. Still beats vocal music IMO.

I'm sure the staff at TWC finally realized that playing the same two production tracks over and over again gets really annoying. At least I still don't mind the long Dan Chandler narrations that they used to have back in the autumn of 1987. That only lasted for two months.

Haha I feel ya! From what I gather it was an attempt to market their new branding and theme. There was always intent to bring back the regular music but I too am a bit surprised it took this long.
