I saw it too but didn't record it. I think the 2 mins are only for this time due to extended coverage. The :08 and :38 lfs on primetime were also 2 mins long last year when they preempted longform to cover the late April tornado outbreak
They needed to cover that April 25-28, 2011 tornado outbreak. There were multiple long-tracked violent tornadoes (EF4 and EF5) on the ground, obliterating buildings and killing people.

I wish they would do 2 minute local forecasts, again.

Me too.

IMO 60 or 90 seconds just isn't enough time for a local forecast   If only TWC listened to the begs and cries from their audience, but I doubt that'll ever happen  :(

Apparently, the weather forecast-loving audience is the population that The Weather Channel is not interested in hearing from anymore.  :hmm:

I'd love the Taiganet rumor to be true. I don't even care about the music, I just want to get the detailed forecast I was able to depend on seeing on this channel. Ads before and after a 60 second LF infuriate me.

Could it be true, that they are actually listening for once? We'll have to wait and see. I sure hope so.

Hopefully TWC does in fact get up off their knees and bring back the 2 minute flavors. Now, if only they get rid of the crappy background noise on the LOT8's and replace it with traditional (pre 2012) local forecast music.

I had been a fan of TWC (and weather in general) since 2003, but I hadn't really watched the channel in a while except for severe weather coverage.  Upon turning it on once again last week, I realized immediately that the LF was shorter than it used to be.  Of course, the LF song was a vocal one which I had never heard on LOT8's before, but it didn't bother me as much as the reduced duration did.  I'll be watching closely for any change to the 60-second forecast.

It's a forecast like that that makes me glad I moved to Florida.  Nothing else makes me glad, though.

I would love to see some weather like that (except the freezing rain/sleet). It's been exactly a decade (Jan '03) since we had single digit lows here too so I wouldn't mind seeing that either if it means shattering some record lows.

Hey, I'll take it!  I practically never see record lows, but I do see about 5 - 10 record highs tied or broken every single year.

It's been exactly a decade (Jan '03) since we had single digit lows

This is one of many reasons I liked '03.  While we didn't really get many single digit lows, we had plenty of cold weather nonetheless.
