I am about to purchase these units pictured here and it looks like a 3000 and another possible older system.

Based on the title "The Weather Star", I'd say this must be the Ws3000

For being that old, I thought they would be huge.  They don't look that big actually.

I'm posting in a somewhat old topic, but i'd just like to point out that they are probaly twice the size of a WeatherStar Jr. If you dont know that, it may be 1 1/3 the size of a Motorola DCT2000 feed decrypter.

That is so cool! That is my all-time favorite model of the WeatherSTARs.   Two questions that I also want to add:

1. Where did you get this?
2. If you plug it in and try to hook all of the cables up, what will it happen if you try to run it? Can you post video of it booting up?

Those are some good quality pictures you got there. I always wondered what the front of one of those two systems would've looked liked.

This is neat! I hope you can find a use for these STARS. It's better for you to have them than for them to thrown out, I suppose. And, for the sake of curiosity, I would like to know where you buy these from, unless it's a secret illegal STAR dealer or something. Hehe.  :bleh:

**EDIT** Then again, maybe you shouldn't say where you got them. I forgot that TWC doesn't want people knowing where they can get this stuff; I can understand that. But it that was the case then nobody should be able to buy these in the open market.

These are 20 year old hunks of metal. If TWC wants them back that bad they can have them. I doubt they care haha

Haha, you're probably right. There are bigger and better things on their minds, at the moment. I don't think they hardly care about stuff like that anyway. I hope you can get something out of them, at least.

Especially since they're not only so old, but also banned from broadcast by the FCC, I don't think you have much to worry about. :)
