At 10:48am they were playing Dreams Collide by Colbie Calliat and 10:58 and again at 11:18, "Annie Waits" by Ben Folds. 11:28 "Soul Meets Body" by Death Cab for Cutie
-
Hmm... I thought I heard a few new songs too. It's hard to tell lately whether or not the playlists are blended or if they're just adding in new songs. I didn't expect a new playlist for a couple more days to a week.
I'll love to check the overnight list.

Actually the July playlist was almost entirely new, very little (if any) songs were recycled from the June list.
-
Has anyone listened to the overnight playlist? Any good songs?

It wasn't transitioned yet

10:08 was Frank Sinatra. 10:28- sunrise by Norah jones from the infamous "No Repeat Workday Guarantee" night.

Frank Sinatra?! :rofl2:

TWC as a whole is a No Repeat Workday Guarantee now
-
Frank Sinatra?! :rofl2:
Closest TWC has been to jazz in a long time. ;)
-
Hey. I like Frank Sinatra!
"Fly me to the moon..."
-
It was the classic, Theme from New York, New York
-
At 1:28, "When It's Over" by Sugar Ray played. Talk about Cartoon Network memories...
When It's Over - Sugar Ray (Cartoon Network Version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HSyRwtFF-A#)
-
Love of Strings at :18.
-
All Moby songs are great
-
Love of strings was on last months playlist too...
-
Heard some guitar remix of "Love of Strings" at 1:18am ET.

I don't suppose anyone here might have the list for the August 2012 playlist?
-
I don't even think a new playlist has begun. All I've noticed is the songs without vocals--from Ben Kopec, John Williams, Mouth of Wilson, etc.--have been replaced with vocal music.
-
There's no point in asking TWC for a playlist since they don't bother sending it out in emails anymore.

New PR regulations, perhaps?

Maybe that's the case but it's best to not email about playlists because TWC doesn't worry about music anymore.
-
Best (from what I've heard)
Moby DUH! :P
"Sunrise" by Norah Jones
"When It's Over" by Sugar Ray
7and5
A few songs from the morning playlist I have no idea what the heck the names of them are.
Most of the ones I like are from the morning hours because that's when I watch TWC the most if I'm home then.
Outside of Moby, I don't know what songs play in the primetime hours.
Worst
Lynn Patrick - I just can't get into this lady's music. (There's only one specific song I liked of hers from the May 2010 overnight list)
Frank Sinatra - I'm open to all kinds of music on the LFs now, but this seriously feels WAY out of place.
-
All of the songs suck except for these which are my favourites:
Morning: Flying Foxes
Daytime: When It's Over and maybe Soul meets body
Primetime: None
Overnight: See the Road and Walk by 7and5
Also, TWC used 3 songs originally used in the May 2007 vocal fiasco:
Sunrise by Norah Jones (Morning)
Soul Meets BOdy - Death Cab for Cutie (Daytime)
New Slang - The Shins (Morning)
-
I don't really mind the music as much as the shortened LF. I'm not even watching TWC anymore when I go back to college on Thursday (don't think my roommate would like that), but I do like the choice to use the song by 7and5. Nice.
-
I haven't watched TWC or really read this forum at all in the past few weeks, so I haven't gotten to experience the playlist really. I'm really happy to see that "Sunrise" by Norah Jones has returned, I remember that song from "way" back when I was first getting into recording TWC. I found that it fit in very well with the LF.
-
New playlist started....I think....
*very loud crickets*
-
Any new instrumentals?
-
Not that I know of. :dunno:
EDIT: The song playing now is instrumental. (5:28pm)
-
Here are songs from today that seem to be additions.
If some were already being played this month let me know and I'll update the list.
5:18am Ryan Adams "Lucky Now"
5:28am Moby "Sunspot" Instrumental
5:48am Amos Lee "Flower"
6:08am Van Morrison "Brown Eyed Girl"
6:18am Sister Hazel "All for You"
6:38am John Legend "Stay With You"
6:48am Sixpence None the Richer "Waiting on the Sun"
7:58am The Gap Band "Early in the Morning"
8:28am Joshua Radin "I'd Rather Be with You"
8:38am Crowded House "Weather With You"
8:58am Vanessa Carlton "A Thousand Miles"
12:58pm Snow Patrol "Chasing Cars"
2:28pm Weezer "Island In The Sun"
2:38pm The Temptations "Ain't Too Proud to Beg"
4:28pm KT Tunstall "Other Side Of The World"
4:48pm Sixpence None the Richer "There She Goes"
7:18pm John Williams "The Homecoming"
7:28pm 3 Doors Down "Where Without You"
-
All For You?! I love that song!! :thrilled:
-
Yay! Sunspot was one of my test playlist songs. I knew I heard a Temptations song today, I just couldn't think of the name of it. Thanks for the ID Iceman. Also that John Williams song is the instrumental one I heard at 5:28 this evening.

Interesting that they're using practically all previous WUWA music. I remember hearing the Gap Band on there back in 2010. I think it kinda fits with the LF
-
Haven't they been doing that the whole time? They're just recycling music and making folks believe it's new.
-
I like the Moby song and the Temptations song (at least Ain't too Proud to Beg has somewhat of a jazz sound to it!)
-
Anyone get rhe overnight? If not I'll try tonight
-
I actually thought Sunspot sort of sounded like a Jeff Lorber song at first. I like that song a lot! Could be the best song TWC has played since December.
-
Since TWC is using the Temptations and the Gap Band they should consider using more Barry White and even the Isley Brothers.
-

I agree. I like that they are using some more soul music.
-
I want to hear Whitney Houston and Aaliyah too
-
Sounds like a new Ryan farish song at '48
-
1:28am HT Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood "Can't Find My Way Home" [Live From Madison Square Garden]
-
"Island In The Sun" by Weezer? I was shocked to hear this play on the LF.
-
There was one vocal song on primetime I really like. The background sounds a lot like Ryan Farish's Magnificent. I believe it's by Collective Soul "Under Heavens Skies"
-
6:18am Sister Hazel "All for You" Acoustic Version
It's actually the original studio version playing, not the acoustic one
-
Yeah, SoundHound detected the wrong version. I've updated the list.
Why is Rushing playing right now?
I heard it to at 11:58am on the national TWC HD feed on FiOS.
The 9am play list was totally different the what I've heard this week.
It was all instrumentals and I could only ID 2 songs.
8:58am ET "My Name Is Lincoln" - Steve Jablonsky (instrumental)
9:48am ET "In The Light" - dc Talk
Could they be still be switching songs around or using a different playlist during the Tropical Storm coverage?
-
Snow Dunes by Lynn Patrick at :48
-
Another one of those sounds like something from a movie sound track songs starting playing at 2:58am.
The song played two more times today.
LOT8's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y31pc8v7IkU#ws)
-
Heard Love of Strings at 2:18...
-
This isn't the playlist. It's just reshuffled. I don't they they would play all vocals due to Isaac coverage. They suspended the vocals from wuwa back when Irene struck last year too.
BTW, it seems every :28 and :58 is vocals and :18/08/38/48 is reshuffled instrumental music.
-
Some of the songs added last week are still in the playlist mixed in with newer and old instrumentals.
-
Daft Punk - Solar Sailer just played at 1148PM CT
-
What the heck?! "Kaleidoscope" by Ryan Farish @ 8:39 AM ET.
-
I would love to think viewers complained to TWC about the vocals which is why they backed off some of it, that would be awesome but it's just a thought.
-
Yeah, I certainly have gotten a nostalgic feel this morning.. have yet to hear a vocal
-

I complained to them about the vocals on their feedback survey the other day.
Hopefully they did realize that vocal music doesn't fit on the LOT8's.
-
There were vocals playing yesterday (albeit they were outnumbered by instrumentals) but so far this morning it's been all instrumentals. Don't keep your hopes up though. :hmm:
-
They did this during Irene. Vocals suspended from wuwa and didn't come back since
-

Right, but the instrumentals are going all through this morning, not just on WUWA... ;)
-
...and that was my point :)
-
...and that was my point :)
You said WUWA though for Irene.. I'm confused
-
Just for the record, overnight is also all istrimentals except for the Steve winwood song . Night Storm Matthew shuman was one of theM
-
There was a different time-in of "B Complex" by Pylon at 11:48 AM ET.
-
There was a different time-in of "B Complex" by Pylon at 11:48 AM ET.
Is that an instrumental?
-
yus
-
Now an alternative time-in to "In the Light" is being used (instead of being right at the beginning like before)
-
Maybe TWC feels vocal music isn't fitting for a hurricane or something? It is odd that even TWC thinks the vocals are tacky when they have many viewers so they're backing off the vocal music for now. I just find that suspicious, especially if the vocal music returns immediately after the Isaac hype dies.

Vocal music will return. Trust me.

That's what I was going to say! :P
I personally think it's pretty irreverent to have this up-beat "life is good" kind of vocal music when a hurricane is about to threaten lives and property. It just isn't fitting, so they switch to instrumental music for the time being. I also have a good feeling that vocals will return after they are out of "red mode."
(Of course, one thing that could really fix this problem would just be to use the Storm Alert music!! :poke:)

IF they use it, I think they want to wait until Isaac is actually a hurricane. I'm VERY surprised they even lit the studio red in the first place.

Well, it hasn't played anymore. It only played once at around the 2am hour since. Maybe they didn't like it.

Coincidentally, I recorded and uploaded that LF. What luck.
@Localonthe8s, that's not true, I heard it play several times during different times of the day.

I recorded the entire morning list and the first hour of the daytime and I did not hear that song.

I should have clarified, I meant on Sunday.

Thank you, it's a nice song. I don't recall hearing it last month so I'm guessing they must of just recently added it.
-
So, are we just moving into September with this August playlist, or does anyone know if any changes are coming for this month?
-
So, are we just moving into September with this August playlist, or does anyone know if any changes are coming for this month?
I guess this is more of a August/September 2012 Playlist because most of these songs playing now played last month.
To add to my best list...
- John Legend - "Stay With You"
- The Police - "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic"
- John Williams - "The Homecoming"
- That Unknown Ominous Song
- Eric Clapton - "Can't Find My Way Home" :sing: (Is this still playing? :dunno:)
-
Tried getting a reply last week and ended up with a canned reply about visiting http://www.weather.com/tv/music (http://www.weather.com/tv/music) for playlist information.

I forgot to add "Early In The Morning" by The Gap Band, I used to hear that a lot on the radio when I was a kid.
EDIT: To answer my own question, that Eric Clapton song is still playing currently. I heard it at 5:58 this morning.
-
Here are songs added to the older songs from August in the current playlist.
Wed 9/19
6:28am ET "Leave This Town" Daughtry
4:58pm ET "The Ascent of Stan" Ben Folds
Thursday 9/20
7:58pm ET "Under Heaven's Skies" Collective Soul
1:58am ET "Be Mine" David Gray
-
"All For You" by Sister Hazel has also been playing as well
-
Can someone let me know if this video really is blocked in the US before I take it down?
The Gap Band - "Early In The Morning" (Sept '12 Morning) HD Quality (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r4savuGDvw#ws)
-
4:58pm ET "The Ascent of Stan" Ben Folds
Would love to hear if there was an instrumental version to this song.
Can someone let me know if this video really is blocked in the US before I take it down?
Yep, it's blocked by UMG under copyright grounds when i try to view it.
-
4:58pm ET "The Ascent of Stan" Ben Folds

Those are not new adds. I heard both Ben Folds and Collective Soul before the Isaac fiasco.

On "Weather With You" by Crowded House
They are now starting with the song at the lyrics "Everywhere you go you always take the weather with you.".
When they started playing it in August they started at or near the beginning and on the shorter local forecasts they never got the that part of the song.
-
surprised they haven't changed the playlist yet. I'd like to know the name of that ominous song from isaac
-
They finally posted the playlist on weather.com
-
I was just about to post about that here. :) I am surprised they don't have August 2012 in the dropdown. Unless it's combined?

TWC Local on the 8s Song from August 2012 #12 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkeUTN8Myx0#)
I am pretty sure the name of this song on the list is "Outer Self" by Arwed Hauf
but it is renamed for use on TWC. It's actually called "Inner Shower" and can be found here: http://www.broadjam.com/artists/songs.php?artistID=86134&mediaID=566343&play=true (http://www.broadjam.com/artists/songs.php?artistID=86134&mediaID=566343&play=true)

Nice find! Not only on the identification but on the location of purchase!!
The time-in TWC used is 4 minutes and 15 seconds
-
I appreciate the find of that song too. One of the best ones I think they've played all year. We need more hurricanes to come so they'll play it again (just kidding).
-
Well, "a hurricane a day keep the vocal songs away" appears to be the lesson from Hurricane Isaac. I suppose one could grasp at straws and hope that Winter Storm Athena has the same effect :P.
-
The music is slowly starting to change over.
"Two tickets to Paradise" Eddie Money was playing on the weekend.
"Perfect Day" Collective Day with Elton John. playing at 1:58pm.
Those songs are not on the September playlist.

While that statement is quite hilarious, I am surprised that some of these songs have been playing for about 3 months now ("Save Tonight" by Eagle Eye Cherry"). I'm ready for some songs to go.
