My cable company has two buildings with a 4000 in one and an XL in the other. They have been acting weird lately, especially the 4000.

-The 4000 is in Forest Hill, Maryland, but it says Baltimore Harbor on the current conditions. It had garbled text back in September from the sun outages. The ad crawl stopped showing a couple months ago.  When it says the monthly precipitation on the LDL during the local forecast, it always says 0.00 inches, even if we've had some during the month.

-The XL is in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania. It sometimes skips the narrations. Sometimes on the three day extended forecast, instead of saying the entire forecast, Allen Jackson just says "Your extended forecast." On the weeklong extended forecast, Allen sometimes says nothing at all. The ad crawl does show, but it didn't start coming up until a few days ago when they discontinued all the individual STAR LDLs.

Does anyone know what is causing these problems?

The 4000 is ancient and probably degrading. Some of it could be related to dish alignment, etc causing the software to improperly load.

The XL skips narration all the time. Its the result of not enough time in the flavor to read the narration

just wanna put this out there.. the 3day extended forecast would announce "your extended forecast" when the product expires, but the data is still valid. the product expires sooner than the data, dont know why its like this, just is. when the 7-day doesn't announce "your extended forecast", the product expired, but the data is still valid. usually what would happen is shortly theirafter is the product would re-render showing the no-data available tag. this happens on the XL, its not frequent though, but does happen (mostly when the data just stays the same).
