How to find a NWS Zone, like on the 3000?
« on: June 23, 2014, 11:55:59 AM »
I'm attempting to make an emulation of the 3000 but I don't know the NWS zone for my area. Anyone know how to find one?

I think this is what you're looking for. http://www.aprs-is.net/WX/NWSZones.aspx Just enter your state and your NWS Office code. (Ex: State: Texas, Office code (County Warning Area) : BRO) then look for your county. You can find your Office code on weather.gov. Hope this Helped!

The NWS did change the layout of the zones in 1993. They were once a group of counties instead of a single or part of a county. TWC did display the new zone numbers on the 3000 for a short time (about half a month).

Maybe this will help: http://www.weather.gov/mirs/public/prods/maps/pfzones_list.htm

Click on your state and the codes will appear.
