COLD! icon
« on: February 12, 2012, 09:47:22 PM »
Just when I thought I had seen everything from the classic days, Nick shows me this. A screen shot of a new (to me) icon from the Nov 92 set. You've likely seen the HOT! icon, well here's the COLD! icon. For those of you that were alive in '94, you'll recall this was during the historic cold outbreak that helped break all-time records across the mid-west, Ohio Valley, and Northeast.

Nice! and I thought I saw all the icons from the Wx4000. Unfortunately I was living in the carribean when the cold outbreak of '94 occurred... happened about 6 months before I left PR

Wow - nostalgia!  Wow - the good old days!  Wow - such temperatures!  Wow - the cold icon!  :)

Actually, I remember seeing the cold icon maybe once or twice, but that's it in all the seven or so years I had the 4000.  It surely is a rarity.  Maybe in later years they just stopped using it altogether.

Wow, nice find Nick! :D Judging from the temperatures, can we assume this icon replaced the frigid icon? I ask because I believe we've only seen a clip of Frigid in 1990, on the first icon set.

The other icon set - the one matching the Current Conditions/Extended Forecast - had a version where it was a rectangle with the word COLD and the entire rectangle would flash like "frigid" did.  An interesting icon.

We still haven't seen the "SMOKE" icon with the blackened cloud.  I remember seeing that one, too.

I must have missed seeing that icon when watching TWC during 1994.  Nice catch, Nick! B)

I never saw either one of those before, though I did see "SMOKE" a couple of times on the 3000.  Only in text, unfortunately.  I also saw "BLO SNOW" on the "Latest Observations" page on the 4000, but, again, only in text.

Dont expect any results to return because the posting of this icon is rather recent, thus no recreation of it has been posted yet

Good point, but i just have one question to ask, one of the TWC today/classic avatar icons is the haze icon from the 1982-1999 icon set, i cant find the actual icon on google  either, or on a youtube video, a rare icon it seems or is just very hard to find, how did the TWC today/classic crew find it, if they didnt then they probably made it.

here's the icon that appears as an avatar on this forum
