I've seen that numerous of times on the IntelliStar when there's severe weather. I think they use that when your area is under a moderate/high risk for tornadoes. That's usually when I saw it.
Yeah, I've seen it on the IS as well, but usually it's worded as "Storms could contain tornadoes."

It's rare, but yeah... happens here in Topeka, too.

As of yesterday evening, my local headend (Charter) started to display their ads over the HD TWC feed at :17/:47 of each hour (they didn't used to before.) They are the same ads that get displayed on the SD TWC feed simultaneously as on the HD one. I'm still seeing the HD SLF and LDL as of this morning, but I'm certain that maybe, just maybe, Charter might be getting the IS2 unit for Astoria real soon  My fingers are crossed.

You might be right on that one, Martin  :P

If I see an IS2 pop up here, I'll let everyone know.

Local ads (same as the SD IS) have been showing up on TWC lHDl channel 847 since about December 2011 so i would agree with Martin.

DirecTV has been simulcasting their headend ads on both SD and HD since 2009, however, before then, it was just the SD feed and the HD feed during the headend ad slot got the national filler commercials by TWC.

Has anyone else seen this text forecast "and possibly a tornado with some storms". I just saw this on my IS2 today. I wonder if it happens to anyone else.  :dunno:

I have seen this on my XL before.

It would be nice to find out if any places in New England have the IS2.

The satellite on the regional Satellite/Radar view on the IS2 is not updating. It doesn't move, or match up to the precip, and I'm pretty sure it is the same as it was on Sunday afternoon. Anyone else noticing this, or is it just me?

EDIT: It just started updating again.
EDIT 2: Well, this explains it...
"At 22Z yesterday GOES-13 (GOES-East) had an anomaly. In English, it means that it has stopped working. This is the satellite that covers the central and eastern U.S., as well as the Atlantic Ocean. Investigators have no clue why it happened, and no clue what is up with the satellite now. We'll update you on the situation as more information is received. That said, GOES-15 (GOES-West) hemispheric images are being produced, so now some central and eastern U.S. images have been restored, but looking from a rather oblique angle from the Pacific Ocean."

Please keep in mind, if you don't already know, that GOES-13 satellite imagery that takes various types of satellite imagery is experiencing an outage right now. This is most likely the reason why your satellite and on the majority of all ISs and IS2s are not updating. TWC can fix this by taking imagery from GOES-15, though the quality might not be as good.

Long Island, August-September 2012 tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, Blizzard of 2013, how many places on Earth do you know can get all 3 of those events within a 6 month period?

Update on GOES-13:

Quote
THE NESDIS SOCC...SATELLITE OPERATIONS CONTROL CENTER...HAS
ADVISED THAT DUE TO UNKNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE GOES-13 SOUNDER
INSTRUMENT, THEY ARE PUTTING BOTH IT AND THE IMAGER INTO STANDBY
MODE TO PROTECT THEM FROM FURTHER DAMAGE.
GOES-15...GOES-WEST...WILL BE PUT INTO FULL DISK MODE. THEY ARE
STILL TROUBLESHOOTING THE PROBLEMS WITH GOES-13...AT THIS TIME
THERE IS NO ETA FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.

The major downside to this, especially for us tropical enthusiasts, is that there is now zero satellite imagery for the Atlantic ocean.

Welcome back to 1960. Well, not really...but it's a setback. :P

I'm sure other countries' satellites must provide at least some coverage of the Atlantic Ocean.

From what I heard, they are already implementing backup satellites. Two good GOES satellites that can give you good coverage of the CON US and the North Atlantic right now are GOES-12 and GOES-14.
