First named storm in the Pacific. Current NHC forecasts put it as a Cat 2 hurricane by Day 5.

Unless something changes in the track, Adrian does not pose any threat to Mexico aside from surf and rip currents.  Winds are at 45 mph, and it could strengthen to hurricane status later today.

I'm glad something is finally starting to brew. Since Adrian doesn't seem to be a threat to Mexico, it can be a good wake-up-call for the folks who live in hurricane-prone areas without doing much damage.

Adrian has become a major hurricane as it has reached Category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.  It's not going to strengthen much more as it's heading towards colder sea surface temperatures, dry air, and more stable air over the next couple days.  Here's the NHC advisory summary from 8 AM PDT (11 AM EDT):

Jonathon (and this applies to everyone) - please remember to reupload satellite images into a image hosting server such as Imageshack. Otherwise images will keep updating.

At one point, Adrian peaked with winds of 140 mph as a Category 4 hurricane.  Now, it's fading fast as a weak tropical storm over the Eastern Pacific and will dissipate within 24 hours.

At least it didn't make landfall.  Things could have gotten nasty in a hurry.
