The situation is turning into a nightmare for Mexico.
NHC has found that Hurricane Ingrid is strengthening, and it's in a favorable environment to continue this process. Winds are up to 85 mph as of the 11 PM EDT advisory. It wouldn't surprise me if Ingrid becomes the first Category 2 hurricane of the season before landfall as its small structure allows for a rapid spin up in intensity.
I can't recall a time when Mexico was hit by two tropical cyclones simultaneously, but it's about to happen. Tropical Storm Manuel in the Eastern Pacific is predicted to become a hurricane before landfall tomorrow morning on the western Mexican coast, while Hurricane Ingrid will make landfall on the eastern Mexican coast by Monday. I fear a lot of death and destruction will occur throughout the country.
