Tropical Storm Fernand

We have a new tropical depression in the Atlantic.  TD #6 just formed in the southern Bay of Campeche with sustained winds of 35 mph, and it may have a chance of earning the name of Fernand before moving over the Mexican coast tomorrow.  The only direct impacts will be felt in Mexico from large waves and heavy rainfall.

A Special Advisory was issued by the NHC, TD 6 has been upgraded to Fernand

The reconnaissance aircraft finally made it to this storm, which triggered the upgrade to tropical storm strength.  The plane was having mechanical problems when NHC declared it a tropical depression earlier at 5 PM EDT.  Tropical storm warnings are in effect as Fernand is less than 12 hours away from landfall.
