The Ressurection of Harvey
« on: August 24, 2017, 08:14:35 AM »
Folks, we could be dealing with what could potentially be the worst flooding disaster to strike TX since TS Allison back 16 years ago in 2001. Harvey is expected to make landfall in TX by this weekend and possibly stall over the Lonestar State for several days.

Global/hurricane models are also suggesting Harvey could *potentially* become a significant, perhaps major (cat 3 or higher) hurricane as it approaches the TX coast this weekend which if it makes major status would make it the first to strike the US in 12 years (Wilma, October 2005).

If you live or know people living in Brownsville, Galveston, Corpus Christi, to Houston or even as far inland as San Antonio or Dallas, you need to take this storm seriously and prepare to take action for what could be historic flooding.

Now, this storm is rapidly intensifying like crazy. It jumped 20 mph in wind speed in three hours today (65 to 85 mph)...and forecast to become a Cat. 3 tomorrow evening...D A M N ! ! !

Looks like it'll be a huge problem for areas from Corpus Christi to Houston.

Pray.

I absolutely hate this!   I've taken a few trips to this coastline, and it is in my state, so it's distressing to see this coming.  I hope everybody's paying attention to the weather forecasts and getting out of there if possible; Mike Seidel is on the ground at Port Lavaca where the landfall is expected to be.  I'm just floored by how fast it developed.

It's been forever since I got rain from a hurricane here. 9 years ago, was the last time this occurred with Dolly, when its path went straight near Laredo as it weakened.

Landfall!  Harvey comes onshore on San Jose Island, just 4 miles east of Rockport, TX.

Just previously, Cantore and Dr. Knabb were already discussing the strong chance that the name Harvey would be retired.  I have to concur.

There's also been a lot of discussion about power outages.  It's almost inevitable that the lights will go out.  Gas prices are almost definitely going to rise, too, because there are a ton of refineries near the Texas coast.
