Melissa actually just gained full tropical status this morning after completing tropical transition and no longer looking like a hybrid of extratropical and tropical features, which met the definition for Melissa to be subtropical at the beginning.  Therefore, Melissa is now a tropical storm, but it will eventually lose those tropical characteristics and turn back to extratropical in the next 24-36 hours as the shear increases and the water temperatures go cooler.  NHC has this storm weakening over the far eastern Atlantic in a few days.
