Title: Do you like the new hurricane sub forum?
Post by: TWCToday on September 23, 2010, 01:00:49 AM
Just a general survey to get a feel if you all enjoy this method for discussing tropical events rather than having a single general thread.

The current method is better.  It keeps the threads of every storm organized.

I think it's kind of annoying. I look at new replies and see a dozen threads about hurricanes. Some, of which, haven't even developed sometimes! But I don't want to spoil anyone's fun. So if others like it...

While I think having a thread for each storm is very helpful, I wonder about all those topics on invests that never materialize into anything.  I imagine that is the annoying part for you, and I can understand it.  I wonder if invests should just stay in the general hurricane thread until they become at least a depression.  Thoughts?

...or maybe post invest threads that only have a high chance of developing into a depression (at least 50%)?

I like the idea, although when I ask question about a hurricane that had dissipated, I get told not to ask them because apparently I can't do so when a storm is no longer active.

When did that happen, Mike?

It was when I asked about why the NHC didn't indicate remnant lows anymore in Paula's thread, but when an admin said it's time to drop the thread after that, it made me feel discouraged.

Mike, I answered your question in my post and thought that was it for the questions.  That's why I thought it was okay to end the Paula thread there.  Sorry if I made you discouraged.
