Setup Problems
« on: May 07, 2012, 03:26:14 PM »
Hi,

I downloaded the emulator, received the key and tried running it.  I initially got a invalid userID message, and now I'm getting a message dealing with incompatibility  - "the version of the file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running" (I'm running Windows 7).

I got the first message after installing the original version, then the second when doing the April 2012 update.

Thanks for any help.

Sunny,
Would you be able to tell me if your computer is running in a 64-bit mode? If it is, do you know a way of kicking it into a 32-bit compatibility mode to run this program?

I'm glad you got it running. What did you do to make it work?

Actually it's not working.  What I meant by my last message was that my computer itself is running in 32 bit mode.  I'm still having the same problems with the emulator.

Sunny,
A few things I know from my side, from the last few attempts that you sent to my server are that you are using the improper version of the emulator. This is more than likely the one packaged in the original setup of the emulator. Also, you did not configure your ID in the setaffil program, please make sure your doing this. If the program is not creating the settings.ini file storing this information, then you must make sure your not only running the setaffil program as administrator, but also the emulator itself as administrator. If you are having a huge problem with permissions and rights, look online with google and determine how you can disable UAC in Windows 7. Please let me know if this helps you out.

Sunny,
I noted that at 5:32PM yesterday, you successfully hit the management server. Is this working for you now?

Unfortunately, it's not working.

If I run as administrator, I get an error message regarding my ID.  If I simply run the program, I get a runtime error.

Got it working!

Just have to fine tune my configurations for my city.

Sunny,
If you can share, do you remember what you did to get it working ?

Absolutely!

The first thing I made sure I did was complete the setup configuration for my city.  After doing that, I ran the "set affiliate" as administrator, then ran the emulator itself as administrator.  It actually gave me an error after the first run through the loop, but after letting it run for awhile, it cleared itself up.
