Title: Key Problems
Post by: iPod on May 13, 2010, 08:42:41 PM
OK, I was having problems with the emulator since last summer.  So I decided to reinstall the emulator and the June update.  However, now it will not accept my key.

Ok, I entered the key, and for two hours said no data available.  So I once again reinstall the program.  I followed directions.  Now I get

Run Time Error '2147220850 (8004028e):
File Open Error

What should I do?

Ok, that got rid of the runtime error message.  Now, it still will not call up my weather data

There is likely a problem with your config. Perhaps Brian can have a look at it

Okay, I think I have a better idea of what is going on.  I think this has something to do with the June update.  I followed all directions and extracted the files to c:/wsxl.  As you know there were 2 items in the folder.  weatherjr (folder) and inside that folder there are 2 items.  wsxl and settings.  Now I opened that file, and it was completely blank.  Outside that folder there is a second settings icon, and that has my STAR ID.  Now it the c:/wsxl folder, all files are original except setaffil with with was replaced with the one from the June update.  In the c:/wsxl I click wsxl, that opens and I get the no data available screen. I can tell that is not the June update because as soon as the boot screen is off, I am unable to move it, and I have to close it via Task Manager.  When I click the wsxl icon in the weatherjr folder, I can tell it is the new version because when I open it, it appears on my task-bar. But two seconds after I open it I get an error message.  And I did follow directions I used from the other post.  I think that the June Update was not installed correctly and I need help manually entering certain configuration on the program so it will work.  Now in June when I installed this update, I think I remember it working.  Thank You for your help

Yes there was a mistake in the packaging that created an extra folder. I believe it mentions that somewhere in the instructions. That does need to be fixed. So it is working now? if so glad to hear that  :) Let us know if you need any more help

Good News:  The Program is finally running the way it is supposed to.

Bad News:  I've been getting the No data available screen for 25 minutes, and since I applied the fix, I have yet to seen anything else

Ok you weren't to clear earlier.  Was your config ever working yesterday? If so did you make any changes from when it was working to when it stopped working?

OK, the emulator has had issues picking up my config, and it has not really worked at all.  However, I did make changes on the CINE
