Ok, I installed the update. I opened the emulator, entered my STAR ID, and I got the message that said I need a need key. I clicked "Enter Now" and entered my old one. Then I got the error message and had one option "OK" I don't see "Get my key" Is my key pending?
-
Did you uninstall the old program?
You will need a new key. A system is in place to generate keys on the spot to users. No need to wait for one.
-
I uninstalled, but when I ran the new one, it told me to get a new key. I clicked OK, and it took me to that same screen where it wants a name and key, but no place to "get a key".
-
Are you using Vista and if so are you running as admin?
-
Are you using Vista
Hell no. Straight up XP.
-
When you select "Get My Key" it should open an Internet Explorer window to the config and provide you with a key. I am at school now and will look into the issue when I get home.
-
I'm in the same situation as tripfan28. I uninstalled the program, and downloading it in IE. Let's see what happens.
-
I believe i know what box your refering to. if you read my installation instructions, a box will appear asking if you want to enter a new key to press OK, or to use the default configuration press NO, otherwise to close the program, press CANCEL. you need to press NO to revert to the default configuration. Pressing OK will not yeild the proper box to display the "Get My Key" button. Report here if this resolved the situation.
-
Sadly, I never see that. It just acts like the old version did when the key was expired.
-
Exactly.
Here is a more specific rundown of what happens:
1. I open the emulator.
2. It says my key expired. The only option is "Enter Key"
3. I click "Enter Key"
4. I click cancel witch closes the program.
or
5. I enter my old key witch is obviously invalid, an error message pops up, the only option is OK.

Please check one thing, verify the emulator is running from C:\wsxl\wsxl.exe
if it is infact running from that location, goto start->run and plugin:
C:\wsxl\wsxl.exe unregister
a box will appear, requesting you to press [1] [2] [3] [ OK ]
then try the emulator again like normal.
-
Yes, it is.
-
Yes, it is.
check above again, i modified the post to add an additional tip
-
It works now, thanks.
-
It works! Thanks Brian!

Nothing happens, after I do the thing in run, nothing happens, do I need to enter my affiliate ID first?
-
Try running cmd and doing to command. If in Vista make sure you run as admin

Uninstalled the old version of the emulator, and installed the new one. Signed in to get my new key, got the key, and then entered it in the program. Then I get this error:
The name/key you entered does not appear to be valid. Please try again.
Tried running the C:\wsxl\wsxl.exe unregister thing, and it's not working. The [3] [2] [1] [ok] thing doesn't pop up, nor do any error messages.
My hardware fingerprint is BCF2-BE23 if you need that.
Thanks.
-
Did you make sure the affiliate was set correctly? That may be the problem.
If not, something is messed up. Badly. But mine is running fine......
-
This message is mostly for Brian. I have walked Billy through as many troubleshooting tips as I can but to no luck. I think his key needs to be reset.

I'm actually getting that same problem now.

in the event a box doesnt show up when that command is ran, the emulator doesnt have a key stored. i did however correct a few issues regarding the missing "get a key" button, that can be fixed by running the "Manual Update" program.
as for issues regarding the 'index out of bounds' error for existing users, you NEED to go into your configuation site, select the packages you want to display in the emulator, then select "Build Now". The existing configuration table used in the previous emulator (which is what is still stored on the server for existing users) is invalid, thats why your getting the 'index out of bounds' error! You need to select your packages you wish to display, all other settings are previously stored.
if there are people still having problems, post the error your getting and your Affil ID and either Martin or I can check it out.
