The snow/mix/rain has started! Who here is feeling the effects of this storm?
-
Here's how things are looking in the DC area over the past hour:
WeatherStar4000 Emulator - Feb 2010 MidAtlantic Blizzard 1/4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD1a1HSweiw#)
-
Some areas near DC already reporting 23in with much more to come
-
I got 18" of snow in total from this storm, but many places around my area were in heavier snow bands than me. Here's a link to all the snowfall reports around my area that were received at the Sterling, VA NWS office:

Looks like DCA is getting screwed again. Official measurements much lower than surrounding areas
-
i got 16" of snow. Streets are covered with thick snow. I'll take some pictures tomorrow morning

For all of you Mid-Atlantic(ers?)--
How do you guys feel about the snow on the way?
It is amazing how much snow has fallen out there! My area is expecting a 6-10 inch snow, and people are complaining left and right. What I will tell them---it could be worse, MUCH MUCH worse..just look at the Mid-Atlantic.
-
I'm hearing another one is on the way for Wednesday? The same day when ANOTHER one dumps rain here in my area. Y'all are getting a lot of snow!
-
Yep yet more snow that'll cover the snow that fell from last weekend's storm. Just can't make anymore $$ shoveling :D

Tell those people that I know some who are shoveling out from 24-32" of snow due to the last storm and that another 6-12" is coming tomorrow through Wednesday with the upcoming storm. There's not much we can do, so we just get ready to dig out again.

At my house, we got an unofficial measurement of 17", which measures up to the December 19th storm. Part two of the Winter Powerhouse is on the way. The Winter Storm Warning for my area says we could get up to 8-10" of additional snow.

The folks at the weather forums who live in the MidAtlantic I'm apart of can't complain that they are having a crappy, snowless winter anymore. :P

Well right now, I'm mostly at the Accuweather forums, they don't have as many experienced members in the SE threads that can read/interpret models and give insight on them like they do in the MidAtl/NE threads so I'm one of the few there that does that. I tried to sign up at Eastern Wx, but I had problems with the email portion, it wasn't accepting any of my two emails.

The 2009-2010 winter season has just claimed new all-time records, and it's still only early February! Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD have just surpassed their old records for the snowiest winter season ever. Here's a special statement from the NWS in Sterling, VA that provides more details:

Strong clipper system next week could bring more snow
-
The next storm will bring some snow for the Great Lakes region and the Northeast on Monday and Tuesday. There could be some serious accumulations for the New England states ahead. The Mid-Atlantic that has been plagued by snow will only see a rain and mix event as this storm is tracking further north. It doesn't seem like winter wants to slow down yet.
-
GFS looks like a 5 year old with crayons but who knows. I am counting on some kind of big event sometime around the start of March
-
Even the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is supposed to get some possible snowfall on Tuesday, again. But, as of now, there is not a real great chance (although, that's what they said about last week's storm). :wall: I'm tired of the snow, though. :( I wouldn't last in the NE in winter time. :P

You wouldn't have fun in the Northeast right now as there are areas that will pick up a total of two feet or more of snow during this week. This winter has been more active than many that I can remember in recent history. Do you all think so, too?

Most definitely, I MIGHT even see another significant snowstorm to start March off next week.
-
Perhaps a major system for the south and mid atlantic around the first of March

Yes, this has DEFINETELY been an active winter for really the entire country, not just the Northeast.
(Well, maybe not Hawaii. :P)
