In other news... JB is nuts. His forecasts have been comical in the past but announcing something like this is insane.

Well a pattern change is on the way, as far as cold weather. Were in to locked inside the fridge from now to possibly Christmas. With any storms minor or major, it won't take much to have snow cover on the ground. But I don't like that this much cold air is forecasted to funnel in at once. It pretty much killed my biggest chance at a early December snowfall, something that hasn't happened here in a decade because the cold is going to suppress the storm so badly it falls apart right over the Rockies. I don't mind the cold at times, but I think it should go hand and hand. What JB is saying I don't think is that crazy. Although were in a La Nina and the set up is not the same as last winter, there could be some wildcards such as this.

Hmm...Interesting. Everywhere north of Seattle to Reno to Witchita to Knoxville to Norfolk to see a potential white Christmas. It looks like at least 1/3 of the country has a good amount on the ground already. For me to have a satisfying white Christmas, I'll need a few good Pacific Storms, and a few clippers.
But anyways, I don't know how much I should believe this. No one can predict accurately past 72 hours, let alone up to 23 days.

Well its not that I dont agree with some of the weather behind it but its a BAD idea to make huge predictions like this for something major like Christmas. The average joe looks at that and takes it seriously. This could come back and bite him in the rear

The average Joe...Bastardi. :P

Earlier today I heard on the radio that this one particular meteorologist isn't predicting a white Christmas for eastern Massachusetts. Believe it or not, we don't often have white Christmases, despite our northern location.

That's true, but he's always been all hype to me so I never pay any attention to what he says anyway. Well I wish him the best in that prediction because he'll need it to be that bold on something as specific as Christmas this far out.

it's funny how southeast mass is in that there is no chance in :censored: my area will have a white christmas
FAIL!

Not so sure about this prediction. Looking at data from the National Centers of Environmental Prediction, it doesn't look like 50% of the nation is going to see snow within 30 days. But, maybe I interpreted this wrong.

AccuWeather has GOT to be wrong. I think the whole "White Christmas" thing that's gonna affect almost the whole country is pure exaggeration. Plane's map looks accurate imo.

Updated Accuweather Map - Now they have me in the possibility range.

I wish we could have a White Christmas here. It never happens. :(

With all of this cold air hanging on tight, it would be a shame not to have one in the South this year.

You might be right that it could snow in the south... my dad was actually making a tragic thought earlier at dinner that it may indeed snow here

That seems possible, since it snowed in Tampa earlier this year.

Did you get to hear what Jim Cantore said about my area next Monday? He said if there's any snowcover in TN, KY, MO, KS, etc. from this weekend's storm he believes the high of 30° forecasted for us will be more like 20°!! That's scary COLD! It's hasn't been that cold in December since December 1989! and our local ABC Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said he believes we will see a string of days where the low will be in the single digits! That would be record territory not reached since January 2003 when we dipped down to a low of 8° one day that month. He also said he doesn't expect this cold snap to end for several weeks, only the occasional brief warm up should up between storm systems.

Oh Accuweather...... :chair: :whip2:

Now it's not just Accuweather. I heard a couple of OCMs on Day Planner this morning saying that 50% of the nation might see snow tomorrow!

I will definately have a White Christmas. 3 inches on the ground from the past 3 weeks.
