Well I hate to admit it, but...TWC was right about today's wintry event or lack thereof. It was an absolutely EPIC FAIL, twice within a one week time-span a wintry event never materialized.  :( However, I'm ok with this one busting since it was an ice situation unlike the one last week which was a rain to snow scenario, but still it's somewhat disappointing to keep getting the screw job. I was hoping to at least see a few sleet pellets if nothing else. Maybe third time's the charm I guess.

The whole long-term forecast for this winter was way off, at least in the Northeast. They predicted more moisture than normal and the first normal cold season in years. Still feels like a repeat of last year. A unusual late-season Hurricane ripping into the north-east, followed by one early snowstorm. Ever since then? Dry and mild. The only time any significant moisture has happened has always been accompanied by a temperature spike to above freezing. And the arctic air has been blocked from getting a hold in the Northeast. Again, just like last year.

35.3°F Light Rain

Had snow to start, then sleet, then rain. Goodbye snowpack. Temps warming into the mid and upper 50's Wednesday. Wednesday night could be horrific with thunderstorms and high winds. GFS still showing wind gusts to be potentially as high as 80mph! Might have trouble mixing them down with an inversion.

Long Island, August-September 2012 tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, Blizzard of 2013, how many places on Earth do you know can get all 3 of those events within a 6 month period?

79° and mostly cloudy, with winds S at 9 mph.  This is almost like last year's La Niña winter.

68°F Partly Cloudy

That temperature is the high for today as of 5 PM EST, which ties a record high for this date from 1975.

You all are so lucky!  <_<

40.0°F Overcast

0z NAM wind gust maps have wind gusts approaching 90mph just south of here! HOLY ****!!!! Though, there will be a tough inversion to fight and I have no idea if those algorithms take into account the inversion.

55°F, Light Rain. We never got any of the severe weather that was forecast, but the rain did bring a cool down - it was in the 70s earlier today.

32°F Mostly Cloudy

2.06" of rain fell yesterday, which puts the total precipitation at 7.68" for this month.  I think it may be the wettest January ever recorded here.
