TIDAL DEPARTURES OF 1.5 TO 3 FEET ARE LIKELY TO OCCUR. THE GREATEST

Fire Weather Watch  <_<

... FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING FOR NORTH GEORGIA DUE TO LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES...

SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS IN PLACE FROM NEW ENGLAND INTO THE SOUTHEAST UNITED STATES. A DEVELOPING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE... BOTH AT THE SURFACE AND ALOFT... OFF THE SOUTHEAST COAST WILL KEEP A DRY AIR MASS AND A TIGHT PRESSURE GRADIENT ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA THROUGH THURSDAY.

LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES AND WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH MAY COMBINE WITH DRY FUELS TO RESULT IN CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THURSDAY AFTERNOON ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTH GEORGIA. THIS WATCH INCLUDES PORTIONS OF THE CHATTAHOOCHEE NATIONAL FOREST.

A FIRE WEATHER WATCH MEANS THAT THERE IS HIGH POTENTIAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS IN 12 TO 72 HOURS. LISTEN FOR LATER FORECASTS AND POSSIBLE RED FLAG WARNINGS.

PLEASE REFER TO YOUR LOCAL BURN PERMITTING AUTHORITIES ON WHETHER YOU MAY BURN OUTDOORS. IF YOU DO BURN OUTSIDE... USE EXTREME CAUTION.

PLEASE ADVISE THE APPROPRIATE OFFICIALS OR FIRE CREWS IN THE FIELD OF THIS FIRE WEATHER WATCH.

...FIRST SIGNIFICANT STORM OF THE FALL STILL EXPECTED TO ARRIVE THIS
WEEKEND...

AFTER A NEARLY TWO WEEK STRING OF ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS
THE SOUTHWEST UNITED STATES...WITH DAILY HIGHS REACHING INTO THE
TRIPLE DIGITS OVER THE HOTTER LOWER DESERTS OF ARIZONA...A
SIGNIFICANT COOL DOWN IS ON THE HORIZON.

WINDY AND MUCH COOLER WEATHER IS EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN
CALIFORNIA AND SOUTHERN ARIZONA THIS WEEKEND AS A VIGOROUS PACIFIC
LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES INTO THE DESERT SOUTHWEST. HIGH
TEMPERATURES OVER THE LOWER DESERTS WILL FALL FROM NEAR 100 DEGREES
TODAY TO THE LOW TO MID 80S BY SUNDAY...AND INTO THE 60S AND 70S OVER
THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS SUCH AS SOUTHERN GILA COUNTY. THE COOLER
TEMPERATURES...WHICH WILL BE WELL BELOW SEASONAL NORMALS...WILL
PERSIST INTO THE EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK.

MOISTURE WILL BE LIMITED WITH THIS SYSTEM AND THEREFORE WIDESPREAD
AND HEAVY RAINFALL IS NOT EXPECTED. THERE WILL BE INCREASING CHANCES
FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN NORTH AND EAST OF
PHOENIX STARTING SATURDAY AFTERNOON. IF THE STORM SYSTEM MOVES FAR
ENOUGH SOUTH AND PULLS IN ENOUGH MOISTURE...THE LOWER DESERTS COULD
SEE ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS...PARTICULARLY
SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.

FINALLY...WINDS WILL BE INCREASING AS THE STORM MOVES IN...BEGINNING
ON FRIDAY IN SOUTHEASTERN CALIFORNIA AND FAR WESTERN ARIZONA...AND
SPREADING TO ALL AREAS BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON. WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH
WILL BE POSSIBLE...WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 40 MPH.
