I've been making a lot of posts recently, haven't I? Really gotta slow down.
Anyway, I just checked the SPC website, and the severe weather threat for much of New England has been upgraded to slight risk. New York City and Boston should keep a careful eye on the skies later this afternoon.
-
On an unrelated note, Severe Thunderstorm Watch 680 has been issued for NW Iowa, SW Minnesota, NE Nebraska, and SE South Dakota. Anyone here on the forums from these areas should be ready to hunker down for some nasty thunderstorms in an hour or so.

For you as a new member, I think your goal of "contributing a lot" really does show here.
I really hope NYC doesn't get hit severely again like last time. I've seen the damage on TV and it was really horrendous. Let's hope it doesn't go worse than last time.
-
I hope it doesn't, either. However, Severe Thunderstorm Watches 861 and 862 have come into effect, all issued south and west of NYC. This implies to me that a weather watch will be needed for NYC within a few hours as the storms progress east.
EDIT: Severe Thunderstorm Watch 863 issued includes the New York City area. Be prepared for severe weather within the next 1-2 hours.
Watch 861 encompasses:
W Maryland Panhandle, SE Ohio, W and Central Pennsylvania, and N Virginia.
Watch 862 includes:
Washington D.C, Maryland, N Virginia, E West Virginia Panhandle, and coastal waters.
Watch 863 includes:
W Connecticut, Delaware, E Maryland, New Jersey, SE New York (includes NYC), E Pennsylvania, and coastal waters.
All members of this forum who live in these areas should take immediate precautions. Severe thunderstorms, with high winds and large hail, even tornadoes, could and are expected to affect your area within the next 1-2 hours. Please take immediate precautions. Anyone living close to these areas should be on alert as well.

Strong thunderstorms moving into the NYC area...warnings have been posted north and west of Manhatten. Expecting a severe thunderstorm warning for the metro area very soon.
-
Bringing this post back. Severe Thunderstorm Watch 698 has been issued, and it encompasses New York City and Newark. Effective until 2:00 Zulu.

Wow, another heafty storm just rolled through NYC and Queens producing gusty winds, hail, and occasional to frequent lightning. The visibility was really low at times according to the live shots from NY on TWC. They've got hit hard quite a few more times than normal these past couple months.
