Here's a picture of I-24 yesterday just southeast of Nashville that was put up on a tweet from a WSMV station.  The picture speaks for itself:

It kinda irritated me to hear Carl Parker say how this was similar to the flooding here in Georgia back in September, our flooding pales in comparison to what is happening in TN.  I hope any folks that are asked to evacuate or are experiencing serious flooding are leaving to save themselves from the flood waters. All of those cars and 18 wheelers stalled out on the interstate are the exact reason and a good excuse as to why you're supposed to "TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN" when you see water like that.

Well its a little different (from what I heard anyway) in this case. As the floodwaters increased it created a backup and at some point the highway was shut down. However with a backup already in place and water rising really fast there wasn't anything that could be done to clear the road. So cars that were sitting in traffic perhaps 5hrs ago are now submerged.

It just rained so heavy so fast!! In a matter of 15 minuites we have had 5+ in. of rain.
Last week we had a storm that kept the ground saturated, then we had this storm just keep dumping rain in the same areas.
But this morning there were people that got sick of waiting and barged through the water...

We havn't had NBC or CBS programming from 2 am to now (7:53 pm)

You mean your local affiliates have preempted programming this whole time?  Boston TV stations almost never do that, but, granted, we don't have the kind of weather that you have.  Blizzards will receive coverage in the morning until sometime in the early afternoon when people start to lose interest.  The last time I remember wall-to-wall, seemingly never-ending coverage of weather on Boston TV was during Hurricane Bob in 1991.  Scratch that... the affiliates started airing regular programming even during that storm!  I guess we New Englanders are expected to get through bad weather ourselves.   :)

The stations have to show programming now because the downtown area has been evacuated! This is where the stations are. No news tonight... (they remotely update the news ticker)

alright, chill out. :whistling: your explanation points are getting rather annoying, rather fast.

any who, it looks bad. it's been a while since i've seen a decent flood in san antonio. though here in san angelo, the city lacks a drainage system so parking lots turn into lakes, and streets turn into rivers...it's crazy.

i hope all goes well over this region in the next couple of days

I guess its enough to excite anyone. I felt the same way when we had near recording flooding in November. I hope everyone is safe and the water recedes quickly

The river has COMPLETELY covered 1st Ave and part of 2nd (too bad its still rising...) The Opryland hotel has 6 feet of water in it (it has been evacuated). And Fox has no one in the studio...

Insane stuff...
