Huge November Nor'easter
« on: November 10, 2009, 11:49:59 PM »
My area is prepping for one of the biggest systems (excluding tropical) to hit the region in nearly a decade.

Now you all realize that just because a tropical storm decays and becomes extratropical doesn't mean that it's the end of the story.  There have been a lot of powerful extratropical storms throughout the world that can be traced back to the remnants of former tropical cyclones.  I was really worried about flooding for the Southeast, and I see that my fears are coming true.

I sure hope Martin is okay as two surface observations in Norfolk, VA have been reporting sustained winds over 40 mph with gusts approaching 60 mph for the past four hours, and I see that 6-8" of rain has fallen in that area over the past 48 hours.

Just wanted to update everyone who hasn't heard from me.....

We had MAJOR flooding in Norfolk. This was the worst flooding I have seen in my life. Our lower levels of my house flooded and significant damage was done to our yard, pier and garage.

Ill be back post and monitoring things soon
