New Year's Eve Severe Weather Outbreak

Early this morning, a tornado caused significant damage to the town of Cincinnati, Arkansas. 3 people are confirmed dead in the town, five have been injured. This is the first deadly New Year's Eve tornado since 1976.

Two tornado watches are in effect for the mid-section of the country until 3 PM CST today. Another tornado watch is anticipated within the hour.

Tornado warnings are in effect in Missouri and Illinois.

Two more tornado watches are in effect until 7:00 PM CST. Check the Weather Channel or the National Weather Service websites for further details.

It looks like a suburb of St. Louis may have got a tornado or straight line wind looking at some new pics of the weak damage.
Tornado Watches from Louisiana to Illinois. The line of storms are moving NE. It looks like the line will begin to weaken after sunset.

I'm pretty sure that was the worst tornado outbreak for all time on New Year's Eve.

wil there be a chance of strong storms today further east like in ga? looks like the rain coming in now will keep things stable unless they develop much later near sundown.l

The NWS has confirmed at least 32 reports of tornadoes across the nation's mid-section. This is the largest of very few New Year's Eve tornado outbreaks.
