YouTube question
« on: April 27, 2008, 06:49:24 PM »
I've been noticing lately that almost all of the TWC related videos have a "Courtesy: The Weather Channel Interactive" tag on them. Is this some kind of new law/rule or something?

Yes, I told the TWCC community about the tag requirements back a few months ago.

Uh okay? my ass. If there's legalities you know of that we need to know about, you need to tell us. Otherwsie, keep your mouth shut from now on if you don't think its important for us to know this.

Well, obviously there are legal reasons behind it. TWC videos were being removed, if this tag is on the video it has lesser chance of getting removed. TWC has in the past gotten videos removed, I have gotten 2 videos removed in the past by contacting YouTube via my TWC email (on behalf of TWC). Remember that one video with the IS ldl and pokemon video in the background with an audio track trash talking certain members on the forum? I had that removed because it contained the TWC logo, and TWC content in a negative way.

Look, all I'm saying is I don't appreciate getting a hard time when I ask you to let us in on the same info you let the folks at TWCC in on (and I'll assume no one there got a hard time). I was completley unaware until tonight that said disclaimer line should be included. But, I will no longer be posting videos on YouTube since the video police apparently now have their sites set on TWC videos. I don't know if you know it or not but the TWC fan community strives to keep a good relationship with TWC, specifically for this reason. We don't want TWC getting like all the other media conglomo's out there that tear video after video out of Youtube simply because they feel like it. IMO, reporting videos for the reason you mentioned is childish and petty, regardless of who you claim to be to TWC.

We've had an extremely amicable relationship with TWC. Never had any problems. Matt and I both run sites, and TWC has never said anything to either of us. They joined his site! And with any luck, maybe they will mine too. They don't seem to have any problem with any of our content, be it here on our site's or on YouTube. Please, don't be the straw that breaks the camels back. Cap your ego if need be, but don't make life tough for us fans.

I told TWCC about the tag and not TWCT, becuase TWCT wasn't created yet. I can't find the post, but I know it was before this community started up.

Again, that's pretty important info. Something that DEFINITLEY was worth mentioning when this site did come into existence.

I just hope this isn't the beginning of rough times with TWC.

Sadly, it is. And things will only get worse over the next several months and next year or so as TWC is bought out. All the interested companies (NBC, CBS, FOX, Disney Corp., Comcast, etc) already have Youtube restrictions in place.

It's times like this when I wish TWC wasn't being sold. :(

Hopefully the owners will reconsider, because I'd hate to see what would happen to TWC in the future.

Will we still be able to have this message board?
