Went to Penn State with a B.S. in Physical and Environmental Geography with minors in Meteorology and Climatology. Internships....eh, one at WEHT-TV (ABC25) in Evansville, Indiana, and National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, PA. Also helped teach introductory GIS at Penn State, and worked as the head of the severe weather forecasting department in Campus Weather Service. As for a paying job in the field, you can pray for me at night that I get one. :)

BTW as an aside, I forgot to post that now, I'm a Penn State Alum (class of 2010). Yay me :)

Kinda interested in a teaching career. I would love to be a forensics acting coach. Or a drama teacher even english

I'm also thinking about going towards that path as well, but I'm not sure how I'm gonna pull that off in the future though.  :hmm:

I was on the same boat.  Community college would probably be a good route.  Fortunately I was able to get a scholarship that covered most of my tuition at the community college.  I'd apply for any scholarship you can get your hands on, and if that doesn't work out there is always student loans.

Graduated from Penn State a month ago with a major in Physical and Environmental Geography with minors in Meteorology and Climatology. I'm most likely going to work for an environmental quality company or some company that requires use of physical earth sciences, (Marcellus shale?) Later today, I'm interviewing with a real estate company for temp work, but I'm keeping my options open.

Don't worry about what other people think.  It's your life, not their's.

It isn't the highest paying job in the world, but if it is really what you want to do, go for it.  Broadcasting can be stressful at times.  But is also rewarding when you put out a great product.

If you really enjoy it, you should at least try for it.  That's how you should approach any career decision.  You don't want to be stuck bored to tears doing something you hate for the rest of your life.  Broadcasting is extremely competitive, so be aware of that if you choose this route.
