Your Career Choice
« on: December 08, 2010, 06:35:07 PM »
This is a topic I started to see what type of career you hope to get into, are currently studying, or am currently. If your career choice requires college, state your college you went to or want to go to.

For me:

I hope to be a meteorologist and graduate from Penn State.

I'm trying to somehow combine a Master's in Meteorology with a Master's in Flight Training or Master's in Unmanned Aircraft Systems. Maybe we can fly those drones the military uses into hurricanes, and significantly reduce the risk of loss of life.

Career Goal: Pilot or Convective/Mesoscale Forecaster at Storm Prediction Center.

Currently studying Graphic Design at Imperial Valley College, soon to transfer to Arizona Western College* next year to get my A.A. in Television Production. THEN (maybe) transfer again to Arizona State University to get a BSD in Graphic Design or BS in Communication, whichever's good for me. My dream is to live in Phoenix, AZ!

That, my friend, is my current plan.

I have a lot of options I still need to work out. I've always want to done broadcast meteorology, but recently thought about becoming a high school science or technology teacher. Or perhaps a graphic artist.

Environmental Geography with a minor in History. What career choices are out there? Well, I have about a year to think about it before graduating.

I'm thinking about going into broadcast meteorology. Have been trying to decide the past few years between meteorology, computer's or some sort of IT work, or graphic design.

For me, I could probably go for television production, computer sciences, or if all fails, back to what I wanted when i was in elementary school: meteorology :P

Communications or meteorology major.
Same boat here.  I am actually thinking of doing a major/minor.  I plan on majoring in Meteorology, and minor in Broadcast Communications.  I would love to be an on-air meteorologist, and cover hard news.

I am 3 classes  away from getting my Associates Degree in Liberal Arts at my local community college, and then I am transfering to Northern Illinois University in August and majoring in Meteorology, and minoring in Broadcasting (that minor is a tentative plan).

I currently work at a local television station, and that has pretty much set in stone what I want to do.  I was afraid getting into tv news at such a young age would scare me away. It is stressful, but it's also rewarding when things go right.

Environmental Geography sounds interest, Billy.

What I'm planning on doing is going into Meteorology in college and I'm debating whether if I should go into broadcast meteorology or work for the NWS as my career choice.

You're graduating next year? Thought you would this year since you started college in '07..
