Windows 7

I am currently testing Windows 7 and so far it beats Vista on so many levels.
Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

Testing? Its already in RTM. I am using it as well. As for Vista I see it as more of a minor upgrade. Vista worked just fine for me. Most peoples problem with Vista was having the improper drivers/hardware needed for it to run well.

No. Windows 7 is in the RTM stage. Release to Manufacturing. That means it's finished and PC makers (like Dell and HP) are receiving copies of Windows 7 to prepare it on new PCs later this fall.

I'm waiting until this family three-pack of licenses comes out.  Because, you know, I need all three, and Home Premium is more than adequate for my needs.

As soon as an anti-virus I trust works is ported I'll purchase a copy. Symantec anti-virus corp was discontinued in favor of endpoint, which is the same as norton and I REFUSE to use a norton antivirus so now we wait.

I was testing Windows 7 here on my netbook in a VM on only 550 MB of RAM, and it worked great!! I was/am downloading the RTM to test, So I'll try that.

I'm excited for W7 but missed out on both the free upgrade with a purchase of a computer w/ Vista...and the 50% off sale Microsoft had.  *sigh*  Anyway, I have been using avast! Anti-virus and I have been happy with it.  It's free (just give them your email, they don't spam you or send you anything) and it gets daily updates (sometimes multiple) so it is always current.  I haven't had any problems with it, either, so I thought I would pass it along!

I'm not really crazy about the idea of Windows 7. To me, Microsoft is like TWC, changing things and coming out with new versions a bit too quickly. I remember in 2007 how hard it was for me to switch to Vista, when I bought my first brand new computer in August. I have become accustomed to Vista, I would say. I've heard from a friend in the E.L. that he had a lot of trouble with Windows 7. He couldn't get his tuner to work at all. I just don't think all that stress is worth it, and like I said, VIsta works just fine for me now

Windows 7 is built ontop of Vista. You wont need to worry about complications with drivers, ect. again. If it works on Vista it should work fine on 7. Windows had to have these changes IMO if it wants to compete with other OS's out there.

Microsoft has been releasing OS's more often lately, meanwhile Apple is releasing them less often. It used to be that they would release an OS every year. Now, ever since the release of OS 10.3, they seem to only release a new version every two years.

My new laptop has Vista, and I'm starting to really warm up into it. I'm thinking about upgrading my desktop to Vista too.

Windows 7 will be my next operating system as I didn't jump to Vista after hearing so much trouble about it.  I want to wait another year though to let the bugs get cleared out on 7 and save up money for a new laptop.  Furthermore, my 4-year-old laptop with XP is doing fine right now, so I really don't need to upgrade yet.
