I used a variation of Helvetica Neue [sic] for my lower thirds when I had them in my sig.

The WC L3rds and the IS LDL are Helvetica Neue.
The other L3rds and the XL are Akzidenz-Grotesk, and the XL specifically mainly uses the Extended variants. (Look at the R to compare.)
The IS uses Interstate for local forecasts and as its display typeface.

ID'd the font as Helvetica Neue LT Compact at 67 Medium Condensed. Size 23.81 pt.
If you need that font email me.

Yup.

Historically...
late '80s - some Gill Sans
'91-'96 - Caxton
'96-'98 - Gill Sans
'98-'03, XL - Akzidenz-Grotesk
'03-'08, IS - Interstate
'08+, IS LDL - Helvetica Neue
'08+ (L3) - Akzidenz-Grotesk
