Does you car ever not start up? When I first got it baack in late 2006 I was having some problems starting it, like I'd put the key in and turn it, and it would make a clicking sound and not turn over. It happened a few times back in the winter of 06-07, then after that it didn't happen again until the last week or so. It actually happened to me today. I tried to start it up a few times then after a few more minutes, it started up fine. I thought it might have been due to the cold weather in the winter, but it just happened again, so that's obviously not the problem. It's been to the garage a few times for it, and the starter's been replaced, so that's most likely not the problem. I'm honestly puzzled.

Sounds like the solenoid... ??

This happened to my Camry awhile back. It stopped doing it after a few weeks and I don't think the starter was replaced.

I got to test drive the Infiniti, and I gotta say, it sure is a heck of a lot fun! The hardest part about it was figuring out how to turn it on :P My parents and grandparents have, at one point or another, let me test drive their cars. I gotta say though, the mini is my favorite!!

Yes, in Florida you must be 16 to get a intermediate operators licence. In Michigan, to get the Enhanced Graduated Driver License you must be 14 years old and 9 months according to MDOT and Secretary of State.

Corolla is a decent car. Not frilly or anything but its a good car. I'll be trading it in probably sometime in the near future. They tend to keep good trade in values thankfully.

A friend of mine just got a 2010 Corolla not long ago and it's pretty nice, I was surprised at how much room was in the back seat, I'm a fairly big guy and I sat back there very comfortably.
I've been thinking about getting a new car for myself, I change cars as often as I change computers... Although this time I'm trading in the soccer mom SUV for a sports car. It's either going to be an Audi S5... http://models.audiusa.com/s5-cabriolet (http://models.audiusa.com/s5-cabriolet)
or a BMW M3... http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/content/vehicles/2011/m/m3coupe/default.aspx (http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/content/vehicles/2011/m/m3coupe/default.aspx)

Still have my '97 Camry V6, but I'm hoping to get something newer and more fuel efficient soon. Maybe a Civic or Corolla.
-
Still drivin' those Crown branded stand-up forklifts, slipsheet machine, electric pallet jack, order picker, and CAT branded LPG forklifts... :P

Nice!! Love BMWs!
-
@ mike, go with a civic. They're fuel efficient and compact sized so parallel parkig and turning would not cause any issues :)
-
Yeah, definitely go with a honda or toyota. They're pretty reliable and get good mileage. My only complaint is the "fun factor", or lack thereof in these cars. Of course, most of you probably arent as crazy about driving as I am :P

I dunno, I definitely come close... I love driving. :P Since my dad gave me his Camry in June 2009, I've driven almost 13,000 miles. My car has a V6 engine in it, so it's probably more fun to drive than a 4 cylinder like the Civic or Corolla.
I love BMWs too, but they're way beyond my budget, lol. My dad was considering one, but he decided to get an Infiniti G35 instead.

Haha awesome! Glad to see I'm not the only one. :) Well to be honest, out of all the cars I've gotten to test drive, I've never actually driven a Camry, so I have no idea how they handle. I drove my dad's '98 Civic, and it's got like no power. lol And the transmission slips really badly. That's one of the many reasons why I prefer driving a manual transmission. Now that definitely adds some fun..
Hah, I hear ya! M3 is definitely at the top of my list and if I can't afford it at the VERY least a 335i. Infinitis are pretty fun, I gotta say. My grandpa has a G37..and he's loaded it with all sorts of techy stuff lol
-
I've never touched a stick shift yet... some people tell me it's more fun and less boring driving a stick since you have more to do than just holding the wheel. :P I'll have to test drive one sometime...

OMG you need to!!! It's wayyyyyy more fun driving a stick. Just be warned, once you get to try it, you'll likely never want to go to automatic again! lol

Pardon the dumb question, but how exactly do you stick shift? I'm not sure if automatic is good for me because I was driving today and almost struck 2 people. xD

You ever been in a car and seen something that looks like this (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bb/Shift_stick.jpg) in the center console? In simple terms, it's where you have to manually shift the gears. You're used to popping the car in "D" and thinking nothing more, right? In a stick shift, you need to change gears as you go up and down in speed. So you start in 1st gear, and go up as you increase speed. When you slow down, you shift to a lower gear. It's a lot like riding a bike actually.
Driving a stick is a bit more complicated at first..but it eventually becomes second nature. And oh I forgot to mention, you have to be willing to move your feet a lot, cuz you got 3 pedals to deal with in a stick car. I think you should give it a shot at least once in your life
-
Interesting...I hope I can memorise all of that LOL.
-
Ah yes, you'll be using that clutch a lot, since there's no park position in the shifter on a stick shift. But how do you go neutral on a stick (like when you're in a car wash or something)?
-
Molly- It's really not that complicated lol I'm just surprised you've never heard of it before!
Mike- Yep, you to park you have to use the parking brake and leave it in gear. To put it in neutral, you move the stick to the middle, in "between gears" so that the shifter is able to move left and right freely. Hope that makes sense lol
-

Oh I've heard of swing shift driving, but noone ever bothered to explain what it is until now.
-
Wow now you made me ready for driving Derek. and i turn 16 in 4 months :bleh:
-
Now I know I've been gone for a long time. You're really turning 16 already, Zach? I thought you were only 13. Not that you act like you are, but time sure flies by so fast.
Right now, I drive one of those new 2011 Hyundai Sonatas. All I wanted for my birthday was a new car, since my really old one got beat up after my accident.
-

Im 15 now but wont be in 4 1/2 months. Yes i was 13 when i joined here and in fact talked with you so yep it does fly by :)
-
Sorry for the bump, but time is moving by fast. I just can't believe I turn 18 this year
Right now, I drive my dad's '04 Chevy Impala and sometimes my mom's '04 Subaru Forester. I'm hoping to get a car this year (in which case I would get a Honda Civic), but first I gotta find a more substantial job
-

I guess you're not driving anything now. :(
-
Black 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.
-
Transmission on my mom's Explorer went bye-bye... so we just traded it in for a 2007 Mercury Mariner V6 today.
-
I promised myself any new car I would get would have more horsepower than the prior one. I started out with an '05 WRX (227 hp), went to an '04 Accord (240 hp), now I have an '03 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (250 hp). My fave is the new one....not a lot of horsepower, but I've had that car going speeds that would make most parents cry (of course, for safety, I did it in places where no one or nobody could get hurt ;) ) A lot of kids here...definitely buy something that's small and cheap for your first ride. (Can't tell you how many times I wrecked my Subie in the first two years I had it because I was inexperienced.)
Let's say this about my car: I get a lot of people to drive slow in front of me. Especially if I'm going to work (we have to wear a black shirt, and sometimes, I'll have a black ballcap and sunglasses on.) Nobody's going to touch the car, and heck, it's pretty comfortable on the highway (especially above 70 mph; it's like a flying carpet). One thing though, all that power comes with a price. I average about 9-11 mpg driving in the city and 18-24 mpg on the highway (281 cid costs ya something; at $52/tank of gas, you have to be selective :D)
-
About a month ago I picked up a 2011 RX350. :thrilled:
-
I usually drive in my mom's gray 2011 Lexus RX350 or either one of my dad's 2 rides. They are a white 2011 Infiniti M37 which I drive for everything except going out. His other car is a white 2010 Porsche Panamera (yes, he has one! B)), which I drive for going out.
-
I now have a 2005 Suzuki Verona in addition to the Ford Ranger.
-
It's being sold. :(
-
I drive a car. Fair enough? :P
-
I drive a car. Fair enough? :P
No
:P
-
Still have the camry... 15 years 155,000 miles and still strong :D
-
I drive a 1996 Ford Contour with a 6 Cylinder Duratech engine :smoke2: :P
-
Any guesses on the mileage?
-
Haven't updated this in a while. Back in December, I got my mom's old 2000 Pontiac Grand Am after she got a new car (2006 Pontiac G6).
Thought I may have posted a picture at some point, but I don't think I have.
