I just got an EyeTV hybrid USB tuner for my iBook G4 and I have problems with it when I record. It often skips and jumps (doesn't record every frame) when it records and makes the videos look like crap. This doesn't happen when I just view the TV, it just does it when I record. Does anyone know how I can prevent this from happening? My computer has more RAM (768 MB) than what they reccommend (256 MB), and I have no other programs open when I record. I also tried rebooting and that didn't work. All of my computer's other specs meet the software's system requirements.

Slow hard drive possibly? Too much/little compression?
Never used any Elgato products.

What do you mean by too much compression?

Takes a lot of computer power, and requires fast hard drives. Otherwise you get the skipping thing like you described. Adjust compression settings and see what works.

Does anyone have a solution to this? I have my software on the lowest compression settings and it still skips. I know there are a lot of Mac users here who could probably help. I really want to start recording clips with my tuner so I can finally ditch my VCR.

I've never used a tuner on an OS X Mac, sorry. :(
