some news stations never cease to amaze me...
back in February KSAT 12 claimed to be in HD, but became obvious to everyone that they were broadcasting in 16x9 SD, however they still claimed to be in HD.
KSAT gave no warning of their so called "HD" transition and thought it would be a great idea to just flip the switch on any random day. They're graphics didn't change much, and parts that were changed looked horrific. they didn't get a studio upgrade, something they've had for over 7 years...it's not even a studio! its a freakin' desk with an oversized chroma key wall behind it.
mind you, ever since they're little "transition" a lot of viewers have been complaining about KSAT's newscast being fuzzy on both SD and HD channels, ultimately leading viewers their huge competitor KENS 5 whom went HD many moons before KSAT. KSAT used to be San Antonio's number 1 newscast, claming the 5, 6, and 10 o'clock newscast. rumor has it, that they're ratings will not be as impressive as they use to be.
did mention i hate ksat?
competitor to both KSAT and KENS -- WOAI has plans to launch HD sometime this year -- the station turns 60 on Dec 11, and that is my forecast date of their full and complete HD transition. i honestly think i might be impressive if they're gonna do what I think they're gonna do.
if WOAI does go HD this would be San Antonio's 2nd (or 3rd if you count the station "claiming" to be in HD) newscast to broadcast live in HD. KABB (FOX 29), not a competitor, does not have any plans to broadcast in HD in the near future, which is good cause their newscasts suck. lol
blahhh! that was my rant for today. lol
